Catsan Cat Litter-Non clumping

I was recommended this by someone at work. Having put up with the Lidl/Aldi stuff which turns to clay when any moisture hits! It's quite expensive but I wanted to give it a go.

When she has a wee is it absorbed because the cat litter doesn't really change colour and I can't see where she's 'been' unless I get to the tray as she's in it. Confused

It usually goes a very slightly darker grey colour when DCat has had a wee. He has had lots of urine/bladder problems in the past and I have to make sure he’s weeing so I do have to confess to lots of poking around the litter tray ... The things we do for them

Do you manage to scoop any wee out? I have to say there's no smell whatsoever, so that's great and I am definitely not using as much as I did the cheap stuff.

Sparklingcat is an outdoor cat but she comes in for the loo. Grin

I shovel out any slightly darker areas but yes, I think it pretty much does absorb and still doesn't seem to smell. I have a 16yo boy with kidney issues who tends to flood the tray and his wee really smells so that's why I switched to catsan and it does seem to be keeping the smell at bay despite me not being sure I'm getting it all iyswim. I just shovel out anything obvious and top up with fresh.

I am so glad I tried it. I am now pricing up any deals. Pets at home seem do be doing one at the moment.

Sparklingcat also has kidney issues, she's on Fortekor and her wee smells quite 'meaty' and lots of it , but Catsan seems to be dealing with it very well.

I used it for years with my previous cat and didn't really scoop any wee, I just scooped solids and then changed the entire litter tray contents every 5-7 days or whenever needed.

I definitely think it's more economical. the Aldi bags are only £1.89 but I was getting through so much, continual trying to scoop and keep it all clean.

That's why I don't like non-clumping, you end up with a pool of granuals full of absorbed wee and have to replace the entire thing every few days or it goes ammoniac.

Far better have a deep tray (important!) full of clumping where you can just scoop out the boulder of wee and know the rest is clean. If the tray or layer is too shallow you get a mound of wee-clay stuck onto the base of the tray which is a pain in the arse. Keep it deep.

(after the kitten phase where clumping is a mild risk if they're strange enough to eat it)
