I never realised cats could be such ‘friends’

I hate ‘humanising’ animals, but my two cats - now over a year old - really do seem to have a very close bond. They still sleep together all the time, groom each other, eat together, I even see them from the window out and about roaming together. When one of the meows ( both vocal breeds) the other jumps up and goes to find them.

It’s quite touching to see - particularly as if always very much thought of cats as only really tolerating other cats.

I hope it last!

Sorry just random kitty musing ....

Here are my two - big cat lifted his head as the photo was taken. Before that they were both flat out face to face

I love these cuddling cat photos. We adopted two unrelated rescue kittens, one wanted to be friends but the other was aloof. Friendly cat spent her life trying to play with aloof cat, who always took it as an irritant or aggression rather than play. Aloof cat tolerated friendly cat but seemed to secretly despise her. They both slept on my bed at night, friendly cat in my arms and aloof cat by my feet. Occasionally aloof cat would allow friendly cat to sit near her, but no closer than about two feet, or she’d walk away.

One day, we heard a scream from friendly cat, who was being attacked outside by another cat. I have never seen aloof cat move so fast. She flew outside to her sister’s defence, taking a chunk out of the outsider and chasing it from the garden. This from a cat who never gets into fights; normally a complete wimp who always runs away and hides from other cats. It was like she was saying “I’m allowed to diss my twatty sister but nobody else better touch her!” She sustained a torn ear in that encounter - we call it her badge of honour.

When friendly cat died, aloof cat was thrilled. She has blossomed into such an affectionate softy, and has taken over friendly cat’s place under my duvet at night. She was clearly a seething ball of resentment for years, waiting to be a solo cat. But I look at that torn ear, and remember that even she had some loyalty to the sister she hated, when it came to the crunch.

In this photo, friendly cat has come and settled down next to aloof cat, who is clearly thinking ODFOD, before getting up and leaving in disgust a moment later.

My cats tolerate each other at best, older cat Lucy growls every time she passes jinx
However if she sees another cat near dopey jinx she goes in and beats the purr out of it

I’ve posted these photos a lot on the Litter Tray before so my apologies to those who have already seen them. Here are my ginger boys with their best mate from next door.

I've got 4 cats - they barely tolerate each other, but in the occasion we have to bath 1 of them, the other 3 wait outside the bathroom just to make sure the one in the bath actually comes out!

My ginger boy has a best mate that he spends all day with - apparently they lie next to best mates pond looking in at the fish.

Cuddling cat photos are the best!

They seem to like each other but are only babies, there's about 6 weeks between them

Older cat ignores them, saying that she acts like she hates the dog but I often find her in his bed with him at night

My 2 brothers were inseparable until about 6 years old, when they started fighting inbetween getting on well, and when we had building work done one of them ran away. He now lives 2 streets away with an old lady (who wouldn't return him--long story). The one we are left with doesn't seem to miss his brother though.

This is a photo now and one from before.

There are 3 neighbourhood cats who don’t live in the same household who all hang out together. They sometimes meet in our garden and rub noses.

I was concerned that our kittens would get chased off by them or that our kittens would go after them. But no, it’s all peace and love and more nose rubbing.

My 2 like to sleep together in the cat tree but at 8 months it’s getting a bit snug for them both.

Our old cat (17) had NDN 21yo boy as her bestie . She was part oriental ( slinky and vocal Grin ) Tuxedo. Their dogs found him as a tiny kitten in a hedge .

Our cats are Bro/Sis . He had to be rehomed with her because he was so painfuly shy , he would have found everything too overwhelming on his own. They are lovely together .
They tear up to each other them charge through the cat door like the devil is chasing them Grin. They have the odd scrap, usully one on the cat tower jumps on the one on the floor .

They don't snuggle together but they like to know where they are

I was looking at the CPL site ,, there were two brothers , 6 months and jet black.
I was just wondering if I could handle 4 jet black cats ? But my cats declared that , like goldfish, cats grow to fill their space . And our house is full Grin

She was part oriental
Oops NDN boy was part oriental, ours was a tortoiseshell DSH ( aka moggie)
