So where the heck is he getting the feathers from?

Our male cat comes in every day , sometimes 2-3 times with a feather in his mouth. He looks so damned pleased with himself as he wrestles it through the door .

Usually magpie feathers .
We have looked , theirs no carcass that we can see . I have seen a few feathers in the garden over the years (lived her over 25 years) but not this many .

He doesn't bring any body parts, there's no blood , just these feathers !

Probably from something another cat has killed and he's found a stray feather. Magpies aren't prey every cat can/ will take on, so could be a new neighbourhood cat is hunting them, hence it being a recent habit.

Or altercations with other birds/ animals and he's suddenly decided feathers are wonderful things to hunt in the wind!

There are a few neighbourhood cats but most of them are too lazy to catch a cold Grin

Our pair are young ( about 18 months) and only started going out in July . He is the more predatory of the pair .

Before when there's a kill the feathers are everywhere (usually pigeons or those doves that mosey round) but the ones our boy brings are definately not pigeon.

If he wears a collar make sure he has a loud bell on it.

No collars , they are stealth panthers !
I don't think he's killing anything , no blood . (He kills craneflies and dragonflies and leisurely eats them under the table)

Unless someone has hung a huge magpie feather filled duvet out to dry , and he's picking it off bit by bit ?

If he's only been going out a few months then I'd guess he's just looking for them, especially as autumn is the right time for them to blow about enticingly in the wind.
