Collecting kitten tomorrow- a bit nervous!

We are due to be collecting our kitten tomorrow, I have grown up with cats but this is the first time I ll be mainly responsible for a pet!

I have wanted a kitten for ages, I’m excited but also a bit nervous! It’s the first time my partners had a pet so I just want it to go smoothly!

I have set up a base room with litter tray, scratch post, scratch box toy, cosy bed, some toys, food & drink bowls etc. Think I’ve thought of most things?!

Little kitty is 5 months and is coming from a cats rescue, has been flee’d, wormed, vet checked , neutered and had first injections. I think he’s quite a confident kitten!!

Any advise for the first couple of weeks? Is it normal to be nervous even though I’m excited?!

Get one of those laser lights .he'll love chasing it round the floor. Our boy sits like the Egyptian goddess cat Bast when dh reaches for the light "Dad.Dad shine the light Dad" . Our female cat is keener on a bird toy

Is there any reason you can't get him a friend?

C1239 · 25/10/2019 17:21

He seems to be starting to settle in a bit, bless him, I think it’s helping me being off work. However my partner, who hasn’t had a pet before, isn’t adapting well, he wasn’t that keen ij the first place and now I feel awful for bringing kitty into a home where my partner wasn’t as keen as him. It’s making him stressed because he says he’s just not a pet person 😢

Whats her name? I love a kitten thread

I feel you OP. New kittens are super hard work. My and DP almost split up over our wild child 😂 it WILL get easier.

C1239 · 25/10/2019 17:56

I don’t know if my partner will adapt though 😒 sounds silly but he’s never had a pet and I just don’t think it’s for him. I should have never gone on so much about wanting a kitty 😢

Where is the photo OP?????

My fur babies are all grown up now, but the advice given so far is sensible and we got them as 2.5 year olds so missed the kitten stage.

You are doing fine.

Tricky.

Can you re-home the partner? Is he still cute? Toilet trained?.

MaryMoffett · 26/10/2019 01:50

You're clearly a very anxious person and you're tying yourself up in knots here. Other posters don't seem to be picking up on just how desperate you are

I'd re home the kitten.
