New kitten - assessing temperament

I've been wanting to bring a new kitty into the home for a while and a couple of older kittens have come up locally - 6 month males. I've arranged to visit them tomorrow.

Temperament is quite important to me, in fact I had thought of adopting an adult cat so as to be sure of this. However I thought that being a little older, these 6 months kittens might already be displaying traits of their adult selves.

I am looking for a calm, affectionate puss. (Obv expecting the kittens to be lively) If these kittens are friendly and affectionate, could that be something they could grow out of later? At what age does the feline temperament become established?

Thanks cat people Smile

I’d go for an adult.

Henri the black cat on YouTube started off as sociable & look how he turned out.

No kitten is calm. Haribo is affectionate, he's kneading and sucking my pyjama top now. He has calm moments when he's resting but he's an absolute nutter otherwise.

Honestly? I would go for a cat if at least a year. It took a long time for me to find out that one of our kittens is a psycho and her sister hates her. Blush
