I'm looking for an open high sided one with a lower front lip for access .

All the high sided ones seem to be massive ie 50x38x 20 cm and I'd really like one a bit smaller .

Or they cost £££ .

Don't waste your money on a ModKat flip! Massively overpriced and a pain to empty unless you have the liners.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/10/2019 11:40

I had a pet mate top entry one that was great, but cheddar couldn't work it out!

You know what -I think i might try and adapt my existing ones .I'm sure my usual go to of gaffer tape might be pressed in to service to attach something to to the sides to increase their height.....

Could you adapt a storage box? Like the plastic ones that are for under beds. They come in various sizes.

peridito · 05/10/2019 18:04

Thank you both .I have looked at PP but can't find anything with high sides less than 50cm.

What size is your cat? They need room to turn round in the tray. How much smaller are you looking for?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 05/10/2019 18:25

I use a large storage box 75×55×17 (for our four cats)
Look at 'really useful boxes' - they do come in a great selection of sizes so you may find something that suits.

I got a hooded one from B and M, it has a lower lip for easy access. It was only about £12.

fantasmasgoria1 · 05/10/2019 18:48

Pets at home hooded cat toilet £12. You can get more expensive ones but there isn't much difference between them. We bought the £12 one and it's really good and helps to stop the smell.

I would be getting something like this: which is W38 x D50 x H20 so is probably the exact one you rejected when writing your OP! I don't think its wise to go smaller than this width/lengthwise as cats need that sort of amount of space. If a cat doesn't have enough space to turn around, scratch etc they won't use the tray at all and will find a flower pot or something instead!

peridito · 05/10/2019 20:56

Thats interesting about the size ,my existing trays are 40x30 cm and I've always had trays that size for our 2 19 year old cats .That said they are on the small side -the cats that is!

I've recently got this one ,but it seems huge .

Thanks for advice - maybe I've always had trays that are too small and my cats have not had the best of toiletting experiences Blush

@peridito where is that one from? I think it's what I'm looking for!
