Basically this.

I have posted this here and also on "pets"
We're thinking about buying two Bengal cats, because I have researched as much as I can and think they are simply gorgeous, brave, lovable, full of personality, etc.
The fact is though, we have no experience of keeping one, have never even known one.

So I'm throwing it out there. Please anyone with any knowledge of Bengal cats let us know the downsides/upsides! I don't mind if you've had one, your neighbor or cousin had one, you heard of someone who had one, just any experiences.
We're trying to research as much as possible and I trust mumsnetters.

Thank you

Hi my bengal cat is 11 this year, I can only comment on my own experiences with my bengal Harry,
I would recommend going to a reputable bengal breeder, beware bengals are expensive. Make sure you see both the mother and father of the

Bengal plus his or her lineage/
My Harry is a one person cat, he will tolerate certain people but not all and he will not allowl them to pet him, when my grandchildren visit
He will hide in one of his hidey holes, if they approach him he will hiss and go for them.
Bengals are kittens for life and will demand your attention to play with them constantly.
They have particularly long and sharp claws, when they hook onto you often they will need help to free themselves, even when in you.
They need to be brushed regularly as they have a double coat and tend to moult quite a lot.
They are extremely vocal, with each sound conveying to you their needs.
They will play hide and seek and fetch but only when they feel like it.
My cat does not like water despite what the experts say.
Despite all of their little foibles, I am so glad that I have Harry, he follows me everywhere and snuggles up with me just like a baby,
His antics are so funny and can entertain you for hours, and is stunning. Just to let you know my bengal is a big boy very heavy.
I hope this helps.

I had one, he was utterly beautiful and very characterful. He was rehomed to us because he was fighting with his brother all the time.

While with us he would be fed 4 times a day and would still try to tear open the cat food box and steal more pouches of food. He visited all the neighbours, barging through their chip-controlled cat flaps, terrorised their cats, stealing their food (I found a pile of various brands of shredded cat food pouches under our trampoline!)

He even pooped in one neighbour’s house. They were not amused.

Eventually we had to send him back to his previous owners, who were happy to take him as their other cat had just died.

But then they had a baby and he started being trouble again, spraying everywhere and desperate for attention, so he now more or less lives outside, coming in to eat and sleep but otherwise prowling the neighbourhood making a nuisance of himself!

I think they’re great pets for someone who has lots of time to make them feel like the centre of the universe and ideally for someone with no neighbours Grin
