Kitten fell down toilet!!

Just want to start by saying that I am a responsible kitten owner and ALWAYS leave toilet seats down incase my kitten jumps in and can't get out.

However, I just went for a wee and before I could even turn around and put the toilet seat down my 3 month old kitten had jumped in TO MY PISS!! I quickly grabbed him out and washed him with some soap and water and towel dried him.

He's drying off now and shivering so he must be cold I'm cuddling him to warm him up. Has anyone's kitten ever done this before? Is the water and soap efficient enough to clean him?

What a mischievous kitty!! I'm sure he will be ok but the only thing is he will groom himself afterwards so you should either use pet shampoo or washing up liquid is fine. Perhaps just wash him again with washing up liquid? xx

rosinavera · 13/09/2019 14:46

With water of course!! xx

Yea my kitten fell down an unflushed loo years ago. Just washed her in the sink. She hated it 😅

sydneyslife · 13/09/2019 14:50

@rosinavera thank you for your reply. He's a wild little thing I can't turn away for two minutes without him causing mischief!

I used a little bit of washing up liquid to wash him as I read that it's safer to use than normal soap, I've given him a little wash but not sure if I should give him another one as I do want to make sure he's fully clean after his antics..

@pickleface I washed him in the sink straight after and he hated every second of it, I suppose that'll teach him for jumping in the bloody toilet!!

Brilliant that you used washing up liquid. If it puts your mind at ease then you could wash him again but I'm sure he'll be ok :-)

I had one of those. Pets At Home also do the wipes.

My dear departed boy did the falling in the wee filled loo trick, also allowed a dog to cock his leg over him. Oh and fell in a hot bath. God I miss him the crazy loon.

Yes, you have to be quick... My kitten who is about 7 months old now is a terrible terror, she runs riot around the house and I always make sure to close the bathroom door. When I am in there she is always unrolling the toilet roll...Just before I was walking past my long curtains in the lounge, she was hiding behind them and dived out at me whilst still covered by the curtain, it actually made me jump.

Mabelface · 13/09/2019 14:57

He'll be fine. Smile

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/09/2019 14:58

That’s happened to me before. No ill effects. Checked airways.

brookelopez · 13/09/2019 14:58

I'm sure he'll be fine once he warms up, bless him! my cat had a similar incident when she was a kitten and looked like a drowned hamster. had to keep her in my top to warm her up.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/09/2019 15:05

@brookelopez one drowned hamster!

Kitten fell down toilet!!
brookelopez · 13/09/2019 15:06

Grin so cute! their expression when they're forced to have a bath, if looks could kill!

GrannySquares · 13/09/2019 15:11

My sisters cat constantly kept falling in the sink when she used to fill it up ready to wash the plates and cutlery. He wanted to get out the window but had to get drenched in Fairy first lol. Dozy cat!

MarbleCake · 13/09/2019 15:11

I'm lucky mine just squeezes on the seat with me occasionally 😂

gubbsywubbsy · 13/09/2019 15:22

20 odd years ago in our first house we got two kittens from a rescue place who were tiny .. on our first bight one woke my husband up screaming and splashing in the toilet .... had he not woken up I don't know what wpuld have happened but he made it to a good 15 so he got over it .. I've had5 cats since then and I still always put the toilet seats down 🙈

Jeeperscreepers69 · 15/09/2019 14:28

Leave him be. He will clean himself.

moonbells · 15/09/2019 23:35

Yep, Moonkitten did that trick (when we'd only had him a couple of weeks and was teeny) to DH who wasn't fast enough putting the seat down. Calling me for help, he fished out the furious kitten and stuck him under the (cold) shower, whereupon he unsurprisingly took umbrage and jumped out and legged it, scratching a gash across my leg as he did so.
Little git. We made sure he never got the chance to do it again.

moonbells · 15/09/2019 23:37

(He now gets revenge on us by being a hulking 5kg monster who terrorises the wildlife and brings in corpses)

cherryblossomgin · 15/09/2019 23:49

My cat done this when she was about 4 months. She was annoyed and fought her way through a wash but was fine. She stopped going near the toilet as much and prefers to sit in the sink.

TrainspottingWelsh · 16/09/2019 00:00

No, but fell in a full cold bath. Unfortunately it hasn’t cured her fascination with water, provided she doesn’t get soaked or cold. We do still have to put the seat down quickly or she jumps on the seat and sticks her paws in the flushing water. And has been known to climb in and balance on 3 legs against the sides whilst playing in the (clean and flushed) bowl with the fourth. Small as she is she isn’t at risk of falling in anymore but I’d rather not have her toilet paws everywhere. Especially as she likes them to be kissed and her favourite wake up tactic is sticking them in your mouth.

RaisinRainbow · 16/09/2019 00:29

@sydneyslife Your post made me laugh out loud, kitten antics!!

For sure the little one will be fine, until the next madscapade moment Grin
