Rotten incisor bleeding: op tomorrow

My cat has bad teeth from carrying the calicivirus.
He has one v long "fang" and has pulled it across his lower tooth, as it's rotten and was due to come out next month. Emergency vet appointment this am (he was covered in blood :() said tooth must come out tomorrow first thing.

He's still bleeding, not eating and looks distressed. He's trying to pull his tooth out by grabbing it by holding it with his paws like otter hands, if that makes sense.

My question is is there anything I can do to help him between now and Friday morning when the vets take over? Should we wash the blood off him? I doubt he's going to wash himself as his mouth is so sore. His paws are totally blood stained sob sob. He's had antibiotics and pain medication

I think all you can do between now & the morning is give him as much love & cuddles as he wants, and possibly see if his mouth can tolerate something like a cat yoghurt or cat soup.

Only think about washing him (or bits of him) if that's something he is usually fine with, you don't want to do anything that may upset the poor darling any more Sad.

Good luck in the morning at the vets, and update us please.

Thanks for responding, allergic! He's fine - scarfing down best poached fish now, even though his face is abit swollen he seems like himself whereas last night he was v miserable. Thank goodness for vets :). Here's a pic just for you.

Yay for happy de-fanged cat Smile

Has he started cleaning himself up now?

BuckingFrolics · 09/09/2019 15:29

He's like new cat. Sparkling clean, fangless and eating like a good in.
