My darling girl suddenly gone

My lovely cat she was 7, she was originally my neighbours but she moved in with us to be with my cat (he was killed by a dog 5 years ago) but she stayed with us.
This morning she was fine and then i think she had a fit, we were on route to vets, she escaped on to the dashboard of the car, i pulled over and scopped her on to my lap, she peed over me and clung to me at that point i knew she was going, i passed her my 15 yr old dd, who held her as we drove as fast as possible, she passed in my dd arms a few moments later. All my girls were crying and screaming for her to wake up. The vet confirmed her passing but i already knew , when i reached back to check her her little paws were cold. We are all in shock and i feel terrible guilt. My only consolation she is now with her best friend again.

I'm so sorry, I feel your pain.

I lost my beloved 15 year old cat, Poppy, a couple of months ago. One minute she was fine, suddenly her back legs stopped working so I rushed her to the vet who said she'd suffered a saddle thrombus and nothing could be done. I cuddled her and talked to her as she was put to sleep. An hour later I was back home with an empty carrier.

I was devastated. And to a certain extent I still am. Writing this post has set my off crying! But I do feel better than I did. It's very early days for you, but you will start to feel better too. But don't rush it. It's natural to go through a grieving process. I was in disbelief for a long time, as it was so sudden. I couldn't think about her without crying. Everywhere I looked, she wasn't there. Her favourite spots were empty.

I decided to have her cremated and she now sits on her favourite shelf in the living room. I have lots of photos of her around the house and I can talk about her without crying (most of the time anyway!).

People have asked if I'll get another cat, but it's too early days for me to consider it. I have just applied to volunteer at my local Blue Cross so perhaps I'll fall in love with all one of the cats there.

Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

My beloved Poppy.

She died quickly and with the people who loved her, take comfort from that if you can.

I'm so sorry for you and your family. It's such a heartbreaking thing to go through. People under estimate the grief and pain you can feel when your beloved family member (pet) passes away.
Sometimes I actually start to cry just thinking about the day my dog might pass away. She's 5 now but I can't even manage to think about how I will cope ! Hope your family get the time to grieve and know you gave her the best love and family possible x

I'll try that again!
