I'm going to have to rehome my cat

I can't believe it, I'm gutted Sad

Long story short, I found five dead/dying cockroaches on my balcony a few days ago. Couldn't work out where the damn things came from; went a bit mad with the roach spray and bleach etc. Well, what do you know - just sitting outside minding my own business and the fucking cat rocks up with a cockroach in her mouth. Drops it at my bare feet, proud as punch.

Words have been exchanged.

My cat used to bring washing up sponges 😂

One of ours opened the cat door , popped their head through and released a live moth eurgh before retreating and moseying back out .

The moth was still alive , flew round the lampshade and scared the bejeesus out of me .

Cockroaches and geckos Shock (are you in the UK? )

Your poor dcat deserves so much more than an ungrateful dcat slave...
Yabu...

They are disgusting animals aren't they? 🤢 And the way they proudly present their kills, little fuckers.

I'm not in the UK so tend to get more cold-blooded presents; this is the first time I've been gifted cockroaches though. My old boy had a penchant for snakes; thankfully only brought non-venomous ones in. I did use to live near a banana plantation and would occasionally find huge hairy spiders inside - all cats were strangely unbothered by them Hmm

Were the spiders venomous? Because of all the excellent hunters I’ve known, from working terriers, daft pet cats, lethal farm and feral cats, I’ve found the one thing they won’t go near is an obviously poisoned rat. I’ve known of cats that have accidentally been poisoned through eating mice that have been, so I’ve always wondered if they can smell or sense it beyond a certain level. (Not that I use poison but I’ve had neighbours that had, and seen the same in places that do)

No, the spiders were never venomous. Huge and hairy (the size of my hand) but never venemous. It's interesting you talk about poisoning though; my friend's cat was subjected to poisoning recently. Poor thing nearly died, ingested warfarin.

Sponges, ndn cat pinches clothes pegs, he's learnt how to snap them off the line(and taught our dcat!). We go through a unbelievable amount of pegs and ndn jokes that when he moves out he will find an enormous mound of pegs that his cat has snaffled.

We get loads of live bloody mice, and the occasional rat, but cockroaches are a step too far.

There’s a squirrel that keeps coming right up to the house, that the cat is determined to catch, it keeps teasing her by running up trees. Not sure what she’s planning to do if she catches up with it, it’s about twice her size.

TrainspottingWelsh · 28/08/2019 01:00

Op, that’s vile and so sad. I once spent an hour in a waiting room after I arrived to collect one being neutered, sat with a distraught lady whose cat was having emergency treatment for anti freeze poisoning. I waited until her adult son arrived but later found out it hadn’t made it. It was over a decade ago but I still think of her and her poor cat.

I know it’s sadly not unusual for cats to be poisoned deliberately, my observations were more about live prey. It would be a lot better if they could sense it in any form

Oh oh there's a twist in the tale! Dcat brought another cockroach up last night; I just sighed and went to bed. This afternoon I checked the balcony and there was only a partial cockroach left, just wings Confused There's been a huge euro-wasp hovering around the corpse; I think he and his mates have dismembered the cockroach! Shock
