What in holy hell is in Dreamies?!?!

Sparklfairy · 19/08/2019 15:23

I have a quiet, laid back cat. Until the Dreamies come out. Then it's full on screaming, standing up, following me, more screaming...

She's not like this with anything else - even tuna or meat; she might stand up and try her luck or just stare at me hopefully while purring hard.

She knows where the Dreamies are kept and every time I even walk past there she starts at me. It's got to the point if I open anything else pouch like (sharing bags of maltesers etc) she comes over all hopeful.

I call them Kitty Crack. What on earth is in them that turns them into a possessed loon??

I have no idea what's in them but if they could make cat pills taste of Dreamies we might have a chance of getting them to take their medicine.

FurnitureAndBackgammon · 19/08/2019 17:31

When we first bought dreamies I made the mistake of leaving the full pack on the side. Came back a few minutes later and there was just a ripped, shredded empty pack left 🙀

My other cat turns his nose up at them though, mind you he's a Bengal so a bit weird altogether 😼

RainOrSun · 19/08/2019 17:37

I had half a packed donated to me when I lived in feral cat territory. Even feral cats go made for them!

Pas I reckon you've got the next dreamies marketing trick - some sort of case like the outsides you can put medicine in, add in the middle mixture. Fix together somehow and et voila, cat eats tablet!

showmethegin · 19/08/2019 17:38

Totally agreed! If you think that's bad, my kitten loves those chewy sticks that are in individual foil type strips. We're currently ttc and every time I open an ovulation strip he comes racing into the bathroom! Takes a while for him to realise that's it's not food!

Sparklfairy · 19/08/2019 17:54

@showmethegin that really made me laugh Grin

They’re the only thing that will get one of my cats inside at night. I have tried loads of different treats, but only the shake of the dreamiest bag will do.

iklboo · 19/08/2019 19:22

You know those paste type things in sticks? I call them chicky sticks. Mog 1 is like Ewan McGregor in Trainspotting when he sees the packet. Full on jonesing.

TrainspottingWelsh · 19/08/2019 19:53

Yy iklboo although with hindsight referring to them as froobs was a mistake, walking around shouting ‘come on, do you want froobs?’ and peering into trees doesn’t really do much to convince people you are sane

dementedpixie · 19/08/2019 19:55

I call them lik-e-lix although other brands are available!

TipTopAllOverTheShop · 19/08/2019 19:55

Our cat likes the at first and has now gone off them. So who knows?

iklboo · 19/08/2019 19:57

Singing 'here come your chicky sticks' to the Men In Black theme tune (Forgetmenots) gets your neighbours worried as well Grin

AlexaAmbidextra · 20/08/2019 01:22

I know what you mean. I can’t even open a packet of crisps three rooms away without mine hurtling into the room at top speed like a furry Exocet. I swear she’d come through the walls if the doors were closed.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 20/08/2019 07:33

I shook the dreamies and my neighbours cat came running every night Felt I’d stolen him.

Sparklfairy · 20/08/2019 09:38

@DobbyTheHouseElk oh no!! Grin

My cat doesn't like Dreamies but goes mad for Felix Crunchies. Drives me mad sitting there miaowing as knows where there kept.

I think all our cat need to go to cat addiction anonymous!

notapizzaeater · 20/08/2019 09:53

We are a felix junkie here, if I don't leave a few on the bedroom floor she wakes us up in the middle of the night - we've tried lots of things to break the cycle, now she's got us trained for an easy life !

rubberduckyyouretheone · 20/08/2019 09:58

Two cats and a dog here and they're all addicted. Several weeks ago I left a big bag out by mistake, boy cat got up and knocked them on the floor. I walked into the kitchen so see the three of them practically inhaling them. Least they shared nicely I guess.

Igneococcus · 20/08/2019 09:59

Pukka Night Time tea has our cat racing through the cat flap the moment I pour hot water on the tea bag miauing exitedly. I have to lock myself into a room to drink it or I have the cat climbing all over me. It's the valerian in it, I think.

iklboo · 20/08/2019 10:57

miauing

What a lovely spelling Smile. Looks much classier than miaowing. Like how a French cat would sound.

Igneococcus · 20/08/2019 11:26

I was wondering if it might need a "w" Smile The German verb doesn't have one.

CatNinja · 20/08/2019 12:23

My cat is obviously super-fussy as she will often leave Dreamies untouched!

We got her from a rescue and were told she liked the Tesco 'Pocket Pillows', which appear to be an own-brand version of Dreamies, but when we tried the real thing, she's not interested!

Luckily she goes for the Tesco ones when we want to get her in at night! Although the only food that seems to drive her food-mad is expensive ham!

Grinchly · 20/08/2019 20:05

None of my greedy cats is remotely bothered about Dreamies.

One goes mad for valerian though.

op are from the Kraft marketing department or similar ?

sweetkitty · 21/08/2019 20:42

First time I tried new Demon Kitten with a Dreamie he got so excited he bit my finger!

I keep mine on top of the fridge and they will jump up and knock them down chew and chew through the packet so now they are in a heavy glass tub. One shake of it and the three of them come running.

Sparklfairy · 21/08/2019 20:52

I wonder if I could get mine a job as a Dreamies tester...
