Neutered male scrapping injuries

We've had our lovely 9 year old rescue cat for a year. I've just come back from the vet with him after another set of infected puncture wounds, so scrapping injuries. He had the same happen in March. I also know he was given to the rescue because the previous owner said he was being bullied by another cat in the street and getting injured all the time.

He's such a lovely natured cat and is a part of our family. But I really don't want to be shelling out £70+ on antibiotics for him every few months. We live in a built up area with lots of cats so no idea if he's having a problem with a particular cat. Any tips to make him less scrappy and injury prone???

Maybe try some Zyklene. It might calm him down a bit.

It will go in phases two cats will bump into each scrap a few times then resolve the territory issues either by not straying into each other's or by timesharing ( this is the most common in cat heavy areas studies have shown).
When you first notice wounds bathe them twice daily with warm salty water. If the abscess bursts and your cat is well and eating you can try bathing with salty water - if open a significant number of abscesses will resolve this way. If unwell or not eating or has not burst you need veterinary treatment.

Thanks both. Good tips.
