Cat in bath accident

So, I was running a bath for my daughter and was sitting on the loo. I was running the hot first. Our boiler is knackered and you can’t mix the temps. It’s scalding or cold. Anyway- adventurous kitten came in an managed to launch her self in to the bath. I couldn’t stop her quick enough as was on loo. Managed to fish her out after maybe 2 or 3 seconds. Her legs got wet. It was very hot so I grabbed her and ran a sink of cool water and dunked her in that. She wasn’t keen. She is now hiding under the bed. Do you think I should run her to the vets in case she is burnt? She’s not wailing or anything. Any thing I should look out for?

She seems to be cleaning her self now- if she was burnt surely this would be too painful? Am worried about her.

I'd get her checked out. If it were a child you would.

Hawkmoth · 29/07/2019 19:04

I would take her to the vet. They can have a proper look and possibly give pain relief.

I’d run her to the vets now, her pads are very delicate. Hope she is OK.

Animals can be good at hiding their pain. Back in the days when they were wild they had to hide it. As showing pain made them vulnerable.
I would get her checked just in case.

Ok, I’ll phone round to find a vet’s that’s open. Thanks all

Poor kitty, what an experience, hope shes ok and maybe keep the door shut.

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 29/07/2019 19:37

Yes she needs to see a vet sorry. Cats are very good at hiding pain and their pads are very easily burned.

emmac98 · 29/07/2019 19:38

Take her to a vet asap just to be safe. She is only little so it's not worth a risk x

ErrolTheDragon · 29/07/2019 19:51

You probably don't need telling this, but even though it can be tempting to put the hot in first if you've got an unreliable boiler, it's always best to put at least some cold in first.

Hope all goes well at the vets. Thanks

How is she OP?

Paperyfish · 01/08/2019 14:19

Hi- sorry should have got back to this sooner. Took kitty to the emergency vet and she’s all ok now. They just checked her over and said I should come back if there was blistering or if she seemed to be in pain/ behaving oddly.
I will of course be putting the cold in first from now on.

Just seen your update. So pleased kitty is ok. They always manage to find some surprising way of putting themselves in peril. One of ours climbed out of a skylight one rainy night. Got her back in, updated the window risk assessment!
