What do they do outside all night?

I’ve given up trying to get Dolly in on a night. She’s 2 and has always been quietly determined. I don’t worry about her going off with anyone because she hates anyone getting in her space. What does she do though? We are in an urban area with a few trees and a mucky drain running through them. About six strays living on my doorstep could she be hanging around with them? When I get her in before I go to work she’s not even hungry and doesn’t rush to the litter tray. Unlike poor Daphne who poos on my door mat if she can’t get in. I wish I knew what they get up to.

Mine must be sleeping at some point. She's out pretty much all day and night. She does rock up around 2a.m. and climb through the upstairs landing window if it's open though. Then snacks, flops and sleeps until about six when I get up. She's then out for the day, occasionally returning for food and water.

My boy like to spend all night running in and out!! This morning he went out at 1.50 am back at about 3, then out again at 5 and he has just sauntered in screaming for breakfast and telling me all about his shenanigans. We live right next to a park and old railway line. He has a little mate that occasionally knocks on for him, and they go out and bully another cat that lives down the street. He likes to bring me things home... Last time it was a wild baby rabbit.. He's horrible.... 😂

I think tonight if they want to go out im going to let them Im worried about sleeping in this weather. The plan is they will be waiting to come in at 6am when i get up for work. Who knows though? They slept all day today and I dont blame them.

Mine stay out all night, one is usually back in by 6 for food, not sure what they are going to make of this weekend as we have a music festival over the road, we didn’t get them until September last year

Mine torments the local mice. This morning he was parked up next to the kitchen bin staking out the fridge as his snack had run away. Cue 15 minutes of me chasing the mouse round the kitchen and back room. Fortunately the mouse leapt into the litter tray which gave me the opportunity to fling it into the garden to make an escape. Fishcat spent the next few minutes looking in vain for the mouse before rooting through the litter tray, finding nothing, but having a wee in there just in case the mouse was hiding under a tiny piece of cat litter.

The cat from over the back likes to sit on my deck and torment my dog through the closed door, he messed up yesterday because the doors were open and the dog spotted him queue 150m race to the point where the cat escaped to his garden and the dog couldn't be bothered to follow (he is capable to climbing the fence but it's hot). All night of late that cat sits there

My cat stays in on my bed with me from when I go to bed to when I wake up. I think he is a sensitive soul, and spends the night star gazing through the curtains and composing poetry about his tragic life. Then he puts on his very brave face in the morning and struggles through another long day of being adored.

I don't see my two for flipping 12-15 hours overnight sometimes! We are rural and on the edge of woods so imagine they are in there doing serious cat stuff. Then they come in very affectionate for cuddles just when I leave for work and are gone by the time I get back. So frustrating!
Given up looking for them with a torch at 2am in the fucking woods during a thunderstorm as I just cannot exist on 2-3 hours sleep at night. Grrr.

Mine is too tiny to go out at night... So he's a prolific toe-hunter for most of the night! He also brings all of his stuffed toys and sometimes some clean laundry from the bathroom to play with LOUDLY beside the bed... I swore he wouldn't be allowed to sleep with us-that lasted for about 10 minutes!
My old cats enjoyed bullying the local strays and sleeping on people's cars and motorbikes

He sits just out of my line of sight and laughs at me calling him to come in. When he decides it is time to come in he comes to the door and is terribly offended if I am not sitting there waiting for him.

Hassled · 25/07/2019 21:45

I'd love to know this too. One of mine prefers to be indoors - but the other one is off Being A Cat for hours and hours. And I can see a lot of the neighbours' gardens, and can look up and down long stretches of local roads - he's nowhere. WTF is he doing?

EachandEveryone · 04/08/2019 19:39

Sagely, he is gorgeous.

I have a cat flap that’s connected to my phone and while it’s locked at night it shows me when the cat tries to get outside - it starts at 4am.

On the nights I have forgotten to put the curfew on, she sleeps inside from about 10pm to around 2-3am then goes out until 5am. Regardless of whether she’s on lock down or not, she always wakes me at 5am🙄

Ski37 · 05/08/2019 23:15

Mine goes out to bring me mice 😡 And if it’s raining and there are no mice about he comes and wakes me up to be ‘dried ‘. Yes I actually keep a towel beside my bed to dry him when it’s raining ....... 😂😂😂

Oldraver · 29/08/2019 10:35

Ernie has mostly been indoors at night (had our last cat run over and I got a bit over protective). Though if hot quiet late a few weeks ago and just had to go to bed and leave him out.

Sometimes he takes a while to come on any night even after calling and shaking the Dreamiest, and I'm convinced he is curled up in someone's house

OH reckons he is hiding in bottom of the gardens Bush ignoring me, and I just can't see him
