I haven't seen any posts from DangerCat's human (or anyone who could be his human as she name changed). Harry and I are both hoping everything is ok!

Hi Pink I'm here! I'm NCing more often recently as I know someone in RL who is on here so I try to switch every so often. We're good, no dramas in a while thankfully! He's a bit hot and grumpy at the moment though in the heat.

How's Harry doing? I haven't seen you post in a little while. I was going back through my calendar the other day and Harry's little face popped up! Hope he's doing good?!

sneakypinky · 02/07/2019 20:56

Hot and bothered:

DangerCat's Mum, are you there?
PinkSparklyPussyCat · 02/07/2019 21:08

Yayyyy! It's good to hear from you and I'm glad all is well!

Harry was at the vets for his vaccinations a couple of weeks ago and we actually had some good news - his heart and breathing are stable since last year, his weight hasn't dropped (at all Blush) and his jaw is stable. He still coughs occasionally but the vet isn't worried so I'm not. We chose not to have any blood tests and the vet didn't suggest it - we can't medicate him so we decided not to put him (or us) through any tests.

I did wake up this morning to what I thought was a cow mooing in the living room but it was just Harry snoring!

That's great news! He's such a trooper isn't he. What did he think of the 30 degree weather at the weekend? Aw he's very adorable, he even looks like a little fluffy cow. Or panda 🐼! He's got a belly you want to stick your head into.

Isn't their snoring the best? I was lying on the sofa the other night watching tv and could hear both DC and my DP snoring away on the other end of the sofa. Car snoring is such a comforting sound.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/07/2019 23:18

It's comforting until they suddenly stop! Then they give you daggers for prodding them to check they are still breathing!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/07/2019 07:03

Oh Tom is adorable!

I think Harry blamed me for the weather. We don't get much sun in the living room so it wasn't too bad for him and he found himself shady spots in the garden.

He sounds more like a cow mooing than a cat snoring - it must be his fresian markings!

He has his nice AstroTurf to sunbathe on doesn't he! Is that cooler than normal dusty ground?

I'm glad it's a bit cooler now, we were all a bit grumbly on Saturday, and less mousing gets done when it's hot. We've been getting quite a few mouse deliveries recently from him! They're all pretty small though so it seems that he did learn from "Infected rat bite-gate"!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/07/2019 20:41

He does (I could be lynched on MN for having that!). He actually has his own strip by the back door - one of the many things I want to get rid of but can't because Harry likes them!

Do I know about 'Infected Rat Bite-gate'?

I'm not sure if you saw these pictures when I posted them. He's got a new cat sitter after the disaster in December and he looks at her far too lovingly.,

Oh no I remember about that, wasn't the cat sitter coming in for far less time than they were supposed to? How was that resolved? God I'd be so so worried. He looks very chilled with the new sitter!

Rat bite-gate was a few months after stuck in a tree-gate, in one of his hunting expeditions he lost the fight and got bitten 2mm from his groin artery by a rat, and he went into shock/blood poisoning/his skin went black and yellow = a stint in cat hospital and several grand in vet costs. 2017-18 was the bad £4k vet bills period. 😬

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/07/2019 22:14

Yes, she was coming in for a few minutes at a time and on one ‘visit’ she sent her partner. We gave her one last chance when we went away for a weekend and it wasn’t any different so, being the coward I am, I said my friend was looking after him and could I have the key back to give to her! It’s such a shame as she’d been amazing up until then. His new cat sitter is an RSPCA inspector so I’ve got to make sure he’s in top top condition! I did make sure she wouldn’t be coming round in her van as I was worried what the neighbours would think!

I remember stuck in a tree-gate but I somehow missed rat bite-gate! Poor Tom and poor you, that must have been scary.

Harry’s expensive period was 2016-2018. With his teeth, jaw x 2, kidneys and heart he ran up over £5000

Oh god, Harry wins most expensive year! Thank god for pet insurance, I can't even imagine how awful if would be without it. We would have had to have sold the TV and the car, we couldn't have let him go. They're so worth it though aren't they.

Oh bless her, that's a nightmare. Did you find out why she stopped looking after him properly? Why didn't she just turn you down if she didn't have time? I'd love to find a good cat sitter, we may well have to soon because our Cattery lady is in her 70s and planning to retire!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 04/07/2019 20:36

The best one was nearly £1000 to be told there was actually nothing wrong with him! When we picked him after his fractured jaw DH whispered to me that he'd seen the bill and it was about £900. He'd missed the 1 in front of the 9...

MIL offered to pay his fees if the insurance didn't but luckily they paid out, especially as she told me later on that I was cruel for 'keeping a cat alive in that state'.

I never did find out what went on. I should have said something at the time but I was too much of a coward. A girl I went to school with has also started a cat sitting business so I've now got options!

Good luck finding a cat sitter, it's such a worry.

Oh my god, £1000 for tests?? Well, tbh I'd probably pay if just for the sake of peace of mind, rather than worrying every day. That must have stung though!

Bless your MIL, but she was bloody well wrong wasn't she! He looks very happy and chilled, so it's more like you've saved his life where someone else might have given up on him!

Isn't it amazing what you'd do for your cat. Tom is a complete idiot, but I've never thought twice about whipping my credit card out when things have happened, but as DP as I say, he's our son! Do you have kids Pink? I don't recall. We don't, I'm 35 and we doubt we'll have children of our own, but he's very much our child to us. Fool that he is.

sneakypinky · 05/07/2019 18:24

Well, slightly less pleased with him tonight -

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 05/07/2019 21:51

Yep! Our previous vet told us he had heart failure on both sides of his heart and made me think he was going to die in the car on the way home. The worst part was my Mum had died of heart failure 5 months before and the vet was repeating what the doctor told me. He had x rays and blood tests and rather than take him to a specialist we changed vets as one local to us could do the scan. We were told the new vet wanted to see us and we were ready to make ‘the decision’ but he told us his heart was fine other than a grade 1 murmur! I don’t know how many lives that cat had used up!

We don’t have children. I’m 44 so it won’t be happening now so Harry will continue being an only child!

Oh that poor bird! Tom must have been very proud of himself though.

@sneakypinky I think My pair win the prize for the most expensive cats ever. Between Snorg and the late Fatty the vets bills were £16000 in 2 years!

sneakypinky · 06/07/2019 11:54

Omg toddler, that is immense. Who was your insurer?

Toddlerteaplease · 06/07/2019 14:09

Tesco. Snorg got pancreatitis. £5000

Fatty kept getting her jaw stuck open and had to have it put back x4 and eventually had half her cheek bone removed. £6000

Then Fatty got diagnosed with severe HCM with cost a fortune and another has it but not as bad. Cardiology visits are £600 each.
