My cat's a wanker - literally!

Serious question here (but it is funny at the same time).

One of my neutered tomcats has a very elaborate kneading routine that involves three legs: his two front paws and a hind leg which seems to cycle in the air every three or four kneads to a furry blanket on the sofa. I thought it was quite cute but I'd begun to wonder if there was a bit more to it.

Well, I've just been left in no doubt. He's given me a full frontal demonstration with an erect penis and his back leg going ever higher into the air. Eventually he stopped, licked his willy then settled off to sleep. There is no apparent emission onto the sofa 😳

I have owned several neutered toms and never seen anything like this. I know people talk about their cats humping toys but I assumed they were unneutered. Is it common behaviour and could any vets explain why they do it when neutered?

I also have an ex stray who was around 5 when he was neutered. He's gone off on walkabout a couple of times for several days and I did wonder if he could have retained some urges and been off after the ladies.

I'm the bemused owner of a neutered fleece blanket shagger here! I think it just a comfort thing. There won't be any emissions because his balls have been removed.

Watching with interest; I caught my neutered 16yo cat trying to shag a Care Bear last night Hmm Thought he was too old for that sort of carry on!

PristineCondition · 17/06/2019 17:20

I've got a spayed girl cat that does this

So it's not just my boy being odd. My knowledge of biology is limited but I'd thought that having their balls removed would stop the desire too (although that doesn't explain your girl Pristine). I checked for emissions because the other cats have been sniffing the blanket - which was why I'd started to wonder if there was more to the kneading than just making himself comfortable.

Perhaps it's a very attractive Care Bear Ktay 🤣

Oh my!

User10fuckingmillion · 17/06/2019 19:06

Gosh my cat never did this!

UnderPompeii · 17/06/2019 19:43

Boy cat sometimes does a very intense sort of blanket kneading, with a faraway stare, and every so often his back legs do a sort of jerky movement. He most definitely does not want strokes at this time, I assume its a, ahem, private momentShockGrin

Yup, owned a neutered tom for ages who was most definitely still, erm, literally, up for some action every once in a while.

So long as they're not being deatructive: good on them, I suppose.

When I was little our neutered Tom cat used to shag my Rainbow Brite doll.

He's drag her from my bedroom and take her into the living room where he'd perform in front of the whole family 😂

Just as an aside op, maybe look for signs of cystitis, our old cat did this when he had a water infection 😳

I’ve got a neutered tom who is 12.

Every now and then he’ll sit in the middle of the lounge and give himself a very enthusiastic bath.... or at least that’s what I tell DD when she asks why the cat is licking his willy Blush I always know when he’s doing it as he makes really loud licking noises. When he has an ordinary groom you never hear him. Pervert.

9Greenbottles · 17/06/2019 20:28

I might have had to divert him had he and I not been on our own Twinkly

He spends a lot of time outside but I'll keep an eye on him Guilty. He has been doing the kneading on and off since we got him 3 years ago - just not quite so graphically 😳

Totheletter Detailed explanations are not always necessary are they?
