Dry food vs wet food

My cat is 14. Very healthy, inside/outside. Recently she has seemed constipated and I have switched her dry food diet to a mix of wet/dry. She's also more lethargic and has become very "licky". I've just called the vet and they say to take her in. She absolutely loathes the carrier box and it takes her ages to recover.

I'm googling overly. Could this be diabetes? Of course I'll take her if she is unwell but it'll be a taxi both ways and her obvious distress.

When our old cat became diabetic she became very greedy (she never was before) and started drinking a lot.
Despite it being stressful it's best to take her in. Step away from Dr. Google!!

Gorgeous cat! Does she drink more than usual? If so, it could be diabetes. Please take her to the vet to find out what exactly is wrong with her.

She’s gorgeous!! Are you a Buffy fan? I’ve got a diabetic cat, he was drinking loads and was lethargic. I know exactly what you mean, mine hates the carrier to the degree- he gave my ex partner a bite! It was that hard trying to get him in there, ex partner then needed stitches. We have to throw a blanket over her and spray the carrier and blanket with fellaway spray, he's still fighting us, I totally sympathize. hope she’s ok x

No, she's not drinking much at all. I've put water pretty much everywhere to encourage her. Thank you; I'll take her to the vet.

She's absolutely fine but I'm glad that I took her. 😀

Re your subject, our vet recommends wet food. We also leave dry out for them to snack on during the day. We get lots less vomiting with the wet food.

I'm glad your girl is okay. Smile
