Introducing new cat to my 2

I am going to have to bring my dad's 12 year old cat to live with us and we have two 1 year old cats - brother and sister. Any tips on how best to do this? I've read some advice online but any personal experience and tips would be appreciated. I'm naively hoping that my 2 won't mind too much as they are quite young and used to a multi cat household. My dad's cat is quite timid and doesn't really know me very well - she usually goes out when someone visits my dad. I think she will be the most traumatised.

I just plonked my new cat down on the floor in her carrier. Existing cat had a sniff and that was that. Let new cat out and they get on well. However they are both Persians. And new cat came from a Multi cat household. I'd be keep your new cat separate for a while and do some scent swapping.

We’re about to get another kitten and we have two one year olds, I’ll introduce them quite gradually but think they should all be fine.

I remember years ago we got cat 3, he was a kitten and we did t plan on getting him so didn’t even have a carrier with us, we brought him in plonked him down the other two hissed at him he walked up jumped in the couch and went to sleep in their bed! The two boys were best friends in particular.

Some reassuring stories here - thanks. Years back I got DCAT2 and DCAT1 never got on with her. It was a real nightmare at first with DCAT1 spraying indoors. Desperate to avoid that but hoping as my 2 are younger they won't be so territorial. Bringing my dad's cat's litter tray and food bowls from his house and have a room she can go in on her own initially.
