Neglected cat outside my door

Can someone give me some advice? There's a cat that keeps coming to my door, cries out there all night and licks me as soon as I open it. Completely skin and bones and I do suspect a broken rib, seems obviously broken. Asked a neighbour who told me who's cat it is and knocked on their door. They told me that they have a newborn baby and can't have it in the house right now. I asked about how injured and malnourished it seemed and they said they have no time. What do I do?

So they won’t let you take her as she is microchipped yet she thin and you think she’s injured?? Arseholes. I’d drop her off at Cats Protection, tell them she’s a stray they’ll scan her and contact the owners and at least she’ll get medical attention.

People told me I’d have to get rid of my 3 cats when I was pregnant with DD1 as “cats smell the milk and smother babies” it happened to their sisters cousins aunties dogs nephews baby. After extensive research there had never been one reported case of a cat smothering a baby. Mine stayed well clear, their routine didn’t really change they slept upstairs all day anyway came down for attention when babies were in bed. DC were taught to look after the cats, they were heartbroken when last old cat died at aged 13, we now have two kittens whom they all adore. Hate this new baby get rid of the cat thing!

I wouldn't do what Blue suggests as, if they say they want it, what then? Far better to just hand it over to a charity as a stray. They obviously don't want it, but they might become difficult if confronted

I suggested o/p asks as i assumed the cat was microchipped, and i thought you can’t legally rehome/keep/get vet treatment for a cat that isn’t yours?

Fairly sure most vets won’t treat an animal without an owners permission. Unless it’s suffering and the RSPCA have cause to seize it.

Can you take it to PDSA to be treated?

Take it to the vets as a suspected stray. They will treat it at the very least and if it’s microchipped they will contact the owners to pay the bill. If they won’t pay the bill the cat gets signed over to the RSPCA who pay the bill. When I worked for the RSPCA we acquired a lot of cats this way. The important thing right now is to get the cat treatment.
