Cats vision

So, I rescued my cat just over a week ago and I have started to question her vision. She's 7 and I got her from the RSPCA who had done s full health check which she passed but I notice that she only knows I'm holding a treat when it's right under her nose and when playing with a mouse on a string she sometimes runs past it to look for it. She also becomes scared of it at times and will look for it even when it's gone away and if anyone makes a noise just after I've finished playing with her she runs and hides. She can see but I just don't know whether she may have poor vision from certain distances.. I don't want to take her to the vet if I'm being paranoid as she did just have a health check before she came to us.

None of that sounds like paranoia ,all good reason to let a vet have a quick look .

If you can afford it of course ! Otherwise maybe wait and have her eyes looked at during a future visit for something else ?

Presumably as you've only had her for a week she's not going out yet? Because you may want to keep her indoors until you've managed to have her sight checked, as a cat with vision issues may need to be kept indoors permanently for their own safety Sad

Hopefully it's down to nerves and gettin used to a new environment and even form of play (you don't know her full history).

Do you think she has actually see, or is she reacting to what she can hear and smell?

My old lady had gone blind and one thing the vet did was push a flat hand very quickly into her face, she didn't react in any way either physically or the sizing of her pupils. You might not what to do that to a new cat, but in this instance my cat didn't react confirming she was blind. An initial checkup won't cost that much.

Cats can’t see things very close up, so will rely on smell to find treats.

Worth getting a check with the vet next time you are there, but hopefully nothing to worry about.
