Found a stray cat abroad

Hi guys hoping for a bit of advice. My husband is abroad and has rescued a cat that was stuck on a roof. He has no idea who it belongs to and it's a bit early to ask around. This country is very hot and has lots of stray cats and dogs in bad condition, but this cat seems like a pet and is very friendly and seems young.

We have facetimed the cat 🤣
But we don't know much about them. He has given it water and some meat but he is a bit worried about where it will go to the toilet. He found it 4am and it's now 11.30 and it hasn't gone to the toilet during this time.

What's the best thing to do to encourage it to go to the toilet somewhere. He won't be able to get litter as this country is not very developed. He is worried the cat will go on his suitcase😂
He thought the cat might go on the balcony, but it was calling for my husband so he doesn't think it's a good idea as he didn't want to upset it.

It won't leave my husband, my husband hasn't slept as the cat keeps jumping on his bed🤣 any advice would be appreciated

No one here can advise. We don't know the situation/the country/anything. Your husband is the only one who can make a decision here, but of course he needs to get advice from locals.

As for toileting. Cats can often go for 24 hours without going in strange environments. But some newspaper on the floor might be an idea.

And this is the reason I won't travel to anywhere outside Northern Europe. I just can't cope with this stuff.

Whether it is stray or a pet,by feeding it and giving it shelter he is encouraging the cat to stay with him.

If it's a pet, it's family will be sad to lose it. If it's a stray it could well have fleas or other illnesses which your husband probably doesn't want in his bedroom!

He can rest assured that it has eaten and drunk, so now he should put it outside to find it's way home.

Thanks for the replies, he was in no way planning to keep it, especially as it most definitely seems like a pet, but he found it at 4am and its a very hot country. He had no idea how long the cat was there for so he fed and watered it so it wouldn't become dehydrated.

There is a doorman of the building but when he went to ask him if he was familiar with the cat he wasn't there, so he is waiting till a bit later. I suppose if the doorman isn't sure, then he should just release it? He just wasn't sure what to do as the cat seemed so tame and he was worried it wouldn't survive the streets.

Cats are remarkably good at surviving in hot places (its 45C here today, and will get hotter before summer is out), and we gave plenty of feral cats. It's only going to get hotter as the day goes on -most cats are hiding in the shade at this time of day. Water is good, but trapping the cat is not so great - it cant get back to its family. I'd suggest newspaper down for any business, and release it when the sun goes down and the temperature drops tonight. It will almost certainly come back- water -great, food - ok, but I'd suggest not keeping it inside again tonight.
