New kitten not putting on weight

Hi all, I have two kittens from a rescue, both doing well in themselves, playing, allowing us to pet and playing well, although have only just met our older cat, she's pretty unhappy with them being here right now so we are only letting them meet for a few minutes a couple if times a day. Problem is the smaller of the two is very small, and has lost weight since being with us, she's got diarrhoea and it's had blood in it. I've not changed their food since the shelter. Vet has seen her, didn't seem too concerned but said because she's loosing weight gave us a special diet, plus probiotic. Started this yesterday.
Issue is she will barely eat it! I've got her to have maybe half a small foil tray so far. She's turned her nose up at the probiotic, which although mixed into food, isn't really getting eaten. Also wasn't interested in plain chicken.
I've tried it mixed in with the pro plan she was on, but just getting worried about her now, she's a dot already.

I’d take her back to the vets. At that age they can go downhill very quickly. I am a bit surprised the vet didn’t do any exams for the symptoms you describe. Maybe go to a different vet for a second opinion?

She's finally eating a bit of the diet he gave us, albeit not huge amounts. He said give it a couple of days. I'll bring her back tuesday if no better, she's eating and drinking, very alert and normal kitten behaviour really. They were found without their mother quite early I think, so haven't put in huge amounts of weight, they're on pro plan as the shelter said they needed to put on weight, but when I called them they weren't concerned but just said to kee persevering with the food and to try to keep stress to a minimum, like taking them in the car as they hate that.

They are gorgeous- what age?

Mine was tiny when I got her - vet recommended kitten mike which she lapped up.

She’s a monster now

They're just 12 weeks, they think. They are lovely, both have tabby markings under the black, it's gorgeous. Both happily causing chaos in our kitchen. Our 5 Yr old cat has met them a few times now, few hisses, bit of wailing, but tonight just sat while we stroked her and was faitmrly calm. They all have spaces to themselves and we're keeping them away in a room when we are out, so I don't think it's stress... Just hoping she starts eating this vile good the vet gave us, don't blame her really it looks very unappetising, and stops with the runny bum!

Did they vet say she could eat anything else, like cooked chicken? Always helps my little monster when she won’t eat.

Your new babies are gorgeous! Lovely mini-panthers!

Well, after an evening of running around the house released from their cat bedroom (en suite and everything! ) they appear to have eaten a bit more, went for the breakfast of horrible vet food mixed with nicer stuff quite well, still not clearing a bowl though. So far all solid poos, although it's tricky to identify whose they are of course...
I do have cooked chicken, offered her all the lovely fat and jelly from the stock yesterday but she wasn't impressed. My older cat won't eat chicken either! Weirdos.
Could I try white frozen fish, like cod or something?

I recently went wild and treated myself to fish and chips. She moved the soft cod with the batter removed.

A treat for everyone

Some cats will not eat human food. Our Biggie and my parents' Jane won't. Biggie will not even eat tuna, although he likes the water.

Then again Biggie is a bit thick. He tried to make friends with a dog once.

Well I'm here to report we have solid poo finally, plus she's eaten a bit of the food, although not loads..
Fingers crossed it'll continue to improve.
