Suspected lymphoma

Please can anyone advise.

So my beautiful girl has been off for a few weeks, off her food initially followed by sickness and diarrhoea. I took her to the vets and they prescribed antibiotics. She then completely stopped eating and had bloody diarrhoea. We went back to the vets and got referred to the vetenary hospital.
Last week she went in and they put her on a drip to hydrate her and did a number of tests. Unfortunately the needle biopsy came back inconclusive. The vet said she was confident that the symptoms she is showing suggest she has lymphoma. She said they could do a surgical biopsy but I’m not sure if that’s putting her through additional pain for no real gain. Another option was to try another needle biopsy but she said that would likely return inconclusive again.

The vet suggested I bring her home whilst we decide on a plan of action. I picked her up and for the first couple of days she seemed so much perkier and was eating better too.

Since weekend she’s stopped eating again though and is really lethargic. Unfortunately the vet has gone on holiday so I’ll now be dealing with someone else. (He’s calling me tomorrow).

I just want to do the best thing for her, but I’ve no real idea what that is.

Any advice would be so welcomed.

TIA

So sorry to hear this, OP. How is she today? Hopefully someone will be along who has some experience of this but I usually ask the vet what they would do if it were their cat. That usually gives me the answer I need. Flowers for you.

The vet found a mass in our cat's abdomen. Needle biopsy and tests showed it was aggressive lymphoma, with a tumour on her bowel and bladder. She had a month to live? The vet offered chemotherapy but said realistically at her age (16), it would give 3 months of life! Or, they could give her steroids to improve appetite and she could have 3 months. We chose the steroids, and 3 months later, when she got wise to them in her food and stopped eating again, we had her pts at home.
