Cat purring

Hi all,
I have an 11 month old kitten who only purrs when she jumps on the bed to wake me up in the morning. At this time she will nudge me with her nose and squash herself against my face and purr for a few minutes. Apart from this specific time, she doesn't seem to purr at all. Does this mean she is unhappy?
She does brush herself against our legs which I think means she wants attention and dreamies, which she gets. She plays with her toys and us, but is not at all cuddly. She does trill every so often.
Also yesterday she peed in the bath, but I think that was because she wanted her litter changing - she hasn't done it since.
Does the lack of purring seem normal and do you think she's happy?

Not every cat purrs all the time. Our Gatsby doesn't purr that much, but he seems very happy. Biggie purrs all the time, but he is a bit thick.

It depends on the cat.

I have a 3 year old Maine Coon who I have only heard a handful of times and a 1 year old Bengal cross who purrs constantly.

Nothing to worry about :)

My cat miaows loudly and indignantly at me until I fully stop what I am doing, turn to her and pay full attention.

It will surprise nobody that she then turns around and walks off.

She does this because cats are bastards.

I have a black cat who doesn't audibly purr. If you rest your hand on her throat you can feel it. She only mews occasionally. She's the perfect silent movie star. She does have a very expressive face and a deep growl.

My late boy rarely purred when he came too us. I was surprised because all my previous cats of his breed were great purrers. So I started purring to. him ( to the best of my ability) and he became a great and frequent purred.
Purring is actually an infantile response when suckling as it encourages the mother to let down her milk. It’s not something most cats do for another adult cat. Once your kitten knows you respond to his purring with extra petting and attention he will be encouraged to purr more often, esp if you join in!

Sybil has a VERY loud purr and purrs on impact.
Basil you can only hear purr if you rest you ear on him.
Really makes no difference, some cats are just purrier (if that's a word) than others.

Two of mine don't purr much and their purrs are fairly quiet. The other two on the other hand sound like little engines and keep going for a long time. I think every cat is just different and it's nothing to worry about unless you notice a sudden change one way or the other.

Thanks all. Just wanted to check she's not unhappy. She's not a lap cat at all - seems to like being in the same room as us but isn't cuddly. Mostly she spends her time trying to scale the blinds 😁
