Diiarrhoea

My girl who is 17 has numerous health problems but is happy and feels well. She loves her cuddles and enjoys going out in the garden for some sun.
Her biggest problem was diarrhoea. Likened to a cat version of chromed disease and she recently almost died of this following a dental extraction. The diarrhoea went into overdrive.
At the last minute I changed her diet completely against vets advice and she now has proper solid poos.
The vet insisted she have the gastric diet, hard biscuits but that hasn't improved her diarrhoea at all.
I've just changed her diet to organic lilys kitchen and she a new cat. Vet says it's not possible but it is and it's been three months now.
I've completely lost faith in these special diets from the vets now. On my diet she's put 5 pounds on. Has proper poos and is no longer skeletal and sick.
I just don't know what to think now!

Likely you have hit upon a food that has a combination of ingredients that she is not intolerant too.

She's your cat and you know her best. Stick to your guns.

My vet was useless when mine was wasting away before our eyes, turns out he can’t have cereals.

I honestly thought he was going to die one night.

It’s the manufacturers obsession with filling the food with cheap maize 🙄, like I’m going to pay £20+ for a bag of cereal.

Our old cat developed IBD (amongst other things). We'd fed her Hills Science plan thinking it was decent food ( yes I know). She did end up with the hypoallergenic diets.
Cat we have now is on high meat, grain free food. I feel like I'm stricter with his diet than DD! I know raw rodents and birds are his natural diet but I draw the line at that....

Cheddar had horrendous vomiting when I first got her. The vet was keen to test for pancreatitis. I suspect she's allergic to wheat as when I swapped her to Iams it's completely cleared up.

i think it's allergies too, she has improved so much she is a totally different cat, like yours Fluffy, I'm not paying 40 quid for hills science anymore. She hates it anyway. I'm giving her what suits her now.

If it suits her I'd stick with it.

Vets are not always correct, good on you for changing her diet you know your cat best. Hills Science plan food is not all that we stopped giving it to our cat.
