What to do about intruder cat?

I really need some help with this, I'm at my wits end.

I have 6 cats, and my garden has protect a pet fencing, keeps them away from the road and also annoying neighbours etc. Also keeps other cats out. All good.

However new cat has moved in the street and after several weeks of yowling at mine through the fence, has worked out how to get in over the fencing. So it's coming into the garden, and into the house through the cat flap, terrorising mine and shitting and pissing everywhere. Came in at 430am last night! The thing is once he's in e can't get out.

I've talked to the owner who just shrugged her shoulders and asked if I would feed him when she goes away for a few weeks over summer! Ermmm, let's see.. NO. She doesn't want to keep him in as he'll get upset. Well I'm bloody upset! I don't want to have to change my fencing as it'll cost £sss or even a microchip cat flap as it's in a glass door so that's another three hundred quid.

What makes it worse is I've just come out of hospital from up replacement surgery, so am on crutches and with really limited mobility so really don't want to be dealing with chasing a cat out at silly o clock and I physically can't clean shit and pee off my carpet.

Any thoughts before I go round tonight?

Water pistol every time you see him in the garden. But I think you'll have to change the cat flap. If it's the same size it shouldn't be to difficult.

Do you know where he's coming in through the fencing? (I have a similar system from Sanctuary SOS so I know what it's like.) i.e. is there a "weak point" where he can use a tree, a shed or similar to jump in from? If so, you may be able to add extra mesh or brackets there to block off his entry point.

MIcrochipped cat flap is probably the only solution here. While it’s annoying you can’t force your neighbour to keep her cat inside of she refuses.

But as that is a big cost, could you lock the catflap at night - or do your cats need access to the garden?

Thanks guys.

I cant lock my cat flap at night as my restrictions post op mean I cannot bend to lock the cat flap. I've got a water pistol arriving tomorrow on loan from my nephews.

However I talked to intruder cats mum today and she is mortified. She's going to keep him in overnight which will be a huge help. I'll be off work for another month so around in the day to give him full water blast!

God love her, she offered to pay for me to have a new microchip cat flap put in (even when I explained the expense). What a lovely person. We will go with him being shut in at night and the water treatment and see where we go. My other neighbors are looking out for where he is getting in from so we can see if there's anything we can do to block his entry off!

If you already have a cat flap then can’t you just replace the one you have with a microchip one? Aren’t they a universal size?

My cat flap,is in a glass pane - new cat flap needs new pane of glass apparently. It can be changed just not easily!

The catflap is less important in this case as you need to block his entry into the garden. I don't think all the posters commenting know what the catproofing system is like but from your first post it sounds like the catproofing is working from the inside as it were, so once he gets into your garden he won't be able to get out on his own.
