introducing new puppy to resident cats

You guys have helped so much so far with tips for new pup on the 'doghouse' threads.
we are now day 4 and the cats arnt too impressed. They have all of upstairs and a spare bedroom to themselves. They have food, beds litter tray, catnip toys in there. I've got a felliway plug in.
The cats will sit on the stairs and watch puppy. ...yesterday little cat came right up to sleeping puppy and puppy woke up and barked at cat so now cat is petrified. Little
cat won't let me pick her up now.
Old cat isn't too bad, he sleeps all day anyway and is still sitting on my lap and purring.
Any tips to help things along please? I know it's early days but I feel so sorry for little cat, she's usually such a loving little thing and now I think she hates me!

I've not seen your other posts, but we introduced our Lab pup to my ancient (16yo) neutered tom in December. They are currently 'fine' with each other, pup likes stealing cat food and trying to play with cat, cat likes ignoring pup and staring at him from the wall Hmm. Together indoors, they move around each other and curl up, but it's all taken time.

Pup was eager to be friends but cat was sceptical, but he's come round as scents mingle together and they have gotten used to each other. It's just a slow process imo.

Try not to give pup too much attention, and make sure kitty is getting plenty of love. There'll always be setbacks and if the kitties have no experience of pups, it'll take time for them to work out that's just what he does!

Yup, make sure to spoil the kitties lots. Our Biggie had a "WTF is THIS?" look when we first adopted Gatsby. Once he discovered he wasn't being replaced he was okay.

Ironically this is the same cat who tried to make friends with a DOG once. (The dog appeared not to know quite what to make of him.)

Had a mini breakthrough yesterday. Puppy was asleep on my feetHmm and old cat came and stared at puppy for 5 mins ventured in and sat on my lap! Only stayed for 2 mins but it's a start.
Little cat still not as brave and seems to be snubbing me, will sleep on the floor next to my bed tho.
onwards and upwards Smile

Day 11 now, not really had any progress. cats will sit on stairs and watch puppy for ages. It's a military operation letting cats In and out without puppy there.
The cats are quite happy in their bedroom and sleep with me at night.
We are at a bit of a stale mate now tho. I don't know what to so next re introducing them abit more.
Any ideas/tips anyone? or should I just carry on as I am for now?

@RedWoodenStatue did your cats ever come round to the puppy? I'm in a similar situation and wondering if the poor cats will ever go back to normal life... One of them spends all day outside and only creeps in at night . I feel so guilty.
