Cat has lost appetite

From being an absolute gannet, my 1 year old male neuter is now eating most of a pouch a day and a small amount of biscuits - this is less than half what he was putting away previously.

He is drinking. and full of beans. Do you think that he is ill, or is someone else feeding him? He does also hunt but doesn't tend to eat what he catches.

Thoughts?

That doesn't sound a lot. Is he losing weight?
They tend to each quite a bit less in warmer weather.

Is he losing weight? If so get him to the vet straight away.

I have just lost my cat to lymphoma. Devastating.

It can progress very quickly.

Symptoms were initially just low appetite and losing weight. He then started getting lethargic. That was it. He was gone within a few weeks of the symptoms starting.

I don't want to worry you unnecessarily and hopefully it is that he is getting food elsewhere, but I didn't know that it could be so fast and would have taken him down the vet sooner had I known.

My three year old cat has last couple of weeks gone off her food too- used to beg and miaow non stop for food even with two pouches, dry food and dreamies and is now on half that and leaving some (I have been reducing her food as she was quite fat) I wonder if they eat more in winter and less in spring / summer ?

They eat less when it's warm but when the weather gets cold they eat lots. Make sure they have access to drinking water.

Thanks for replies.
He doesn't seem any thinner and isn't lethargic (brought in a dead mouse and tried to bring in a magpie today).

Even if he is being fed elsewhere, I would expect him to be hungry in the morning and he doesn't seem to be. Although maybe elsewhere does a better breakfast!

Have his teeth been checked? Our very greedy cat went a bit off her food at the beginning of the year, leaving bits of wet food in her dish, not touching biscuits, although she was otherwise her usual bossy, active self. We kept an eye on her for a few days, but when she refused treats she was straight to the vet. It turned out she needed a scale and polish and six teeth extracted. It cost a bloody fortune (of course it wasn’t covered by our insurance) but I was so, so grateful it wasn’t any of the awful things Google suggested. She hated having to get mouthwash and ibuprofen type stuff afterwards, but other than that was completely back to normal in a couple of days. She’s five.
