Cat covered in poo! Help!!

Aggh. Come downstairs this morning to be greeting with a cat poo disaster zone. I think a poo might have got stuck and it’s been wiped all over the carpet.

Also my white cat is now brown....he doesn’t seem to know it’s there. I’ve tried wiping it with wet kitchen paper, but I’m fearing for my life. He is a biter. How can I get it off him with least damage to myself.

I want to cry, it’s all smooshed into the carpet and it stinks. It’s pouring with rain so I can’t send him into the garden to deal with it himself. Also he isn’t cleaning it off. Agghh.

Gloves, bath tub, shut bathroom door so cant escape?

HennyPennyHorror · 02/04/2019 08:39

I would bloody send him into the garden! At least when he's soaked you can easily wipe him. I'd bath him...but if he's too mean to bath, get baby wipes and use those....throw him out and do the carpet first though.

Thishatisnotmine · 02/04/2019 08:48

Gloves, bath, shampoo, shower. Two of you to hold the cat. Can't help with poo on stuff as we saw our cat come in and grabbed her.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/04/2019 08:57

There’s only one of me. He is only recently rescued so we have to be careful how we handle him. He’s been beaten in his past life. Even holding him to wipe the poo with kitchen paper was a problem.

I don’t have baby wipes, but I do have Andrex wipes, will try those. Bloody cat doesn’t seem to think it’s a problem.

I can’t send him into the garden as I think my DH put weed killer on the lawn last night, which would account for his shifty behaviour last night( that’s another story),

Bugger bugger. I don’t need this today. Currently he is shut in a room, so the carnage is limited to one room.

I have a very elderly feral cat that really bites and is sometimes incontinent. I have a pair of rose printing gauntlets and use the kitchen sink to bath her. It's much easier as it's waist height for me and not nearly as scary for the cat as a massive bath.
I know it sounds disgusting but I thoroughly bleach the sink after.
I also have an aqua vac.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/04/2019 09:12

I’m going to try an get a bowl of soapy water and a cloth. Wish me luck. I don’t think I’ll get him near the sink. He’s strong and quick. He won’t be bribed with treats either.

I’ve got a vax carpet cleaner. I didn’t want to do this today!

Grin I love cats, but they're really scary when you upset them.
madcatladyforever · 02/04/2019 09:17

Me neither OP but I just found a large turd under the sofa.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/04/2019 09:18

Earlier he was acting like I was putting poo on him. Being white it looks obvious. He isn’t easy to handle anyway. I don’t want to scare him. We’ve come so far since he arrived with us,

I don’t mind picking it up if it’s solid. But this has been squashed into and dragged along the floor. I mustn’t put it off anymore. I’m going in....

Good luck!

DullPortraits · 02/04/2019 09:21

You say he was rescued recently.. was this from a person or shelter type place.. if it was a recuse place honestly i would ring them and ask for advice they might help you even if it mean you taking him there to be sorted. Or ring a vet and ask for sedation x

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/04/2019 09:36

We got him from the Cats Protection.

Bing him in a basket and let the vet nurses deal with it!

I speak from
Experience. Long haired Persian with diarrhoea!

Thank you for all your replies.

When I went back to him, he had cleaned himself. It had all gone. The room stank and the carpet was a mess, but he was pristine. I think me attempting to wipe it off made him clean it up.

Got the carpet cleaner machine out and shampooed the carpet. Now waiting for it to dry. Hope it’s all gone, I can still smell it, but windows open and trying to air the room.

Goodness what a mess.

I hope he will be ok, he must have eaten a lot of poo.

I'm sorry but this really made me laugh. I'm glad he's clean now and good luck with the smell 🐾🐾😺😺

FoxSquadKitten · 03/04/2019 17:07

The beauty of cats is that they're self-cleaning unlike your carpet 😆

DobbyTheHouseElk · 03/04/2019 17:30

The self cleaning mode took a while to activate.
