If someone comes in every day to play with her for an hour and feed her?
She’s 9 months old

We leave our cat for 2 nights with no-one coming in. Just load up his food bowl and litter trays. He's a lot older though (7) and the house is small and pretty cat proof. And he's very used to it. He cant go to a cattery as he has carrier status for a disease.

It's fine if you have a cat flap.

I've been feeding my dd's cats for years when the family goes away. Two weeks is fine. I think they enjoy the rest from the dgcs. They have a cat-flap so no need for litter trays. Plenty of entertainment outside.

I turn up around the same time every morning and they are invariably waiting for me in the hall, which is handy for roll-call. They know I'll give them a chicken treat and I reinforce this by doing the same every time I call, even when the family is at home and I'm just popping in. My dd swears they recognise my car, as they'll be fast asleep and suddenly leap up before I've even knocked on the door. They have IAMS in their bowls always available and I give them half a sachet of wet food, which is another treat they don't usually get.

The only problem has been a dead rat, artistically arranged on the sitting room carpet. I followed the flies. But easily sorted with a bit of Vanish.

We're leaving Harry for 3 weeks in May and I'm dreading it! I know he'll be fine as we've got a cat sitter coming in twice a day but I'm going to miss my little man!

Have had cats for years and always just left then with someone coming in to feed them. I left my former very independent kitty for 3 weeks once and she was fine. The sitters spend some time playing too but current DCat is very antisocial and won't come out to see them.

The alternatives are cattery, which I think they find stressful or live-in sitter. I don't have anyone I could ask to house sit and couldn't afford to pay someone that much.

Last time mine went to a cattery they lost a kilo each by not eating and were so stressed.

I use a cat sitter and have a microchip cat flap with a timer on it and indoor CCTV so I can keep an eye on them Blush

How much does it cost to get a live-in sitter, and where do you find them

To be fair, this just might depend on the number of cats at hand ... :) :) although I'd love to be your neighbour and I'd do it for free...

It's fine! As long as someone is coming in to feed and do the litter trays etc. Contact some local dog walkers as they'll do cat visits for you. Usually it's around £9-11 per visit x

I have a lovely friend who'll come in and house/cat sit if it's only a few days. Any longer, and I use the local cattery. The lady there is very good, and the cats love her. Overnight, we use an automatic feeder. Although the cats will usually try to open it.
