My cat is faulty

After hassling me for food all day our lad has brought back of piece of overipe banana and left it just inside the back door. He can't catch birds or squirrels (thankfully) but banana????

Mine decided yesterday that it would be a good idea to try to climb approximately 30 foot up a tree to investigate a new Magpie nest that had appeared there.
As if the ridiculously high climb up a swaying tree wasn't enough, 2 undrstandably very angry Magpie parents appeared and start swooping at and pecking my over adventurous cat. All of this was witnessed by my hysterical, crying children who (like me) thought we were about to see her fall to her death.
It wasn't at all graceful or particularly safe but thankfully dear cat did make it back down again. She then went inside and hid under the bed for 6 hours to recover.
I'd really be rather relieved if she decided to hunt bananas or leaves from now on. 😂

GoodGravy · 29/03/2019 21:46

Chocolate is that broccoli??

justthecat · 29/03/2019 21:52

Mine brings me dead mice, but leaves them directly outside back door or on the grass so I find them when putting washing out- makes me jump everytime

Vinorosso74 · 29/03/2019 21:53

Faultycat also likes eating cucumber and broccoli. I'm vegetarian so perhaps he's making an effort. Detest bananas so was most unimpressed with an overipe bit Envy-not envy

She brings in moths, and once a butterfly. I took that off her and she growled at me.

Treefloof · 29/03/2019 22:05

Mine only brings dead things when angry at me.
So a decapitated bird when left with a very nice neighbour to feed him for a weeks holiday.
A half mouse when I refused to feed him a 5th time that day, kind of a fuck you, if you wont feed me I find my own.
Worms laid out across the back step, no avoiding it when stepping out because I forgot his dreamies.
He is cute though and often thinks he is a dog.

Chocolateisfab · 29/03/2019 22:07

Broccoli and peas are his favourite!!
Actually growls if his db tries to share!!

FairyBunnyAgain · 29/03/2019 22:08

My two chase months and spiders which is quite funny and not to difficult to deal with. One used to like to dig for worms then leave them in your shoes, this stopped last summer, not sure if she had enough exhausted the supply or got bored. They watch the birds but don’t have the intelligence to catch them.

DramaAlpaca · 29/03/2019 22:32

Mine likes to leave us presents of shrew innards. Which are a bit squashy underfoot if you don't realise they are there when you come downstairs.

AnneElliott · 29/03/2019 22:39

Mine have brought in frogs and toads. Half a dead goldfish was a low point - boycat deposited it in the hands of my friends little girl. Friend was not impressed.

One girl at also nearly got catnapped by a pigeon. It was done big, and she was so small - it tried to take off with her holding onto its neck!

Mumsymumphy · 29/03/2019 22:57

I have faulty house cats. One has a shoe fetish, will sit/lie on them or lie next to them and put her paw in. She also chews anything elastic & ruined the elastic on my daughter's ballet shoes. The other one thinks she's a guard dog, growls at loud outside noises and runs to 'protect' us from the noise. Follows me everywhere and waits for me outside the bathroom. Will pounce on my feet but only in the mornings (?)

BrusselPout · 30/03/2019 00:12

My cats bring home leaves, and expect dreamies as a reward

asparalite · 30/03/2019 08:27

Mine thinks scratching posts are designed to be eaten as she repeatedly bites and pulls the string off them!

DyslexicNotThick · 30/03/2019 08:42

Oh I'd love mine to bring home a banana, but she insists on bringing home all manner of animals. From a huge dead rat, (that DD stood on before she saw it Envy not envy), mice, frogs, voles, to a pigeon that was about twice her size. She gives the local fox a good run for his money and takes no nonsense from next doors Jack Russell terrier. But the one that took my breath away was the bat she brought in one night. I was equally horrified and in awe of her. Having a bat flying around the living room was such a surreal experience, but Dcat was delighted with herself.

She's a small cat in comparison to her peers but she really thinks shes a lion in charge of her jungle!!

And to the pp, all those hair bobbles....can I have them back please? 2 DDS with long hair means bobbles are like odd socks in this house...I have wondered for years where they all go. Never occured to me your cat was nicking them, but now the mystery is solved, I could save a small fortune if you hand them back.

MunchMunch · 30/03/2019 13:59

Reading some of these I'm not sure if I'm jealous or glad my puss puss hasn't brought me any gifts!

I've recently took him in as he was a stray so he must have caught mice and birds but thankfully I haven't seen any evidence of his hunting!

Maybe he doesn't love me enough?! Shock

oxcat1 · 30/03/2019 18:22

@DyslexicNotThick Absolutely, the bobbles are yours! I even have an extra large one, brought home on the day that I must have been extra deserving of a treat.

Couldn't we persuade your cat to steal them back? Cut/cat the middle [wo]man?!

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 30/03/2019 18:39

my first cats were extremely accomplished hunters, a day never went by without some gruesome discovery. Their triumphs included many pigeons, a live and very cross crow, a plastic duck, and a few goldfish, and a toad that was allowed to hop about the hall and into dh's shoes.

Current cats are not very good at it but do still make an effort....today I was left a goldfinch, dh suggested it was for Mothering Sunday.

HelloJackieYouLookNice · 30/03/2019 18:45

Dkitten went outside for the first time today (on a harness as we live by a main road)

When we came back in dcat didn’t recognise her and has hissed and swiped at the ‘intruder’ all afternoon Hmm

agnurse · 30/03/2019 22:30

Our three don't really go outside (although Gatsby sneaks out once in a while) but they haven't ever brought us anything, even in the house. Biggie doesn't really have any hunting instinct, especially. Gatsby and Jayda do, but Gatsby had no motherly training (mother rejected him and he was hand reared; he decided that I'm his mum).

Yorkshiremum17 · 30/03/2019 22:35

Mine proudly deposited an empty tin of gourmet cat food at my feet!

elephantoverthehill · 30/03/2019 22:47

I have a rat that has manged to sneak into my larder it has been rifling through stuff for at least six months. Obviously I had removed any food except for tinned but it has had a go at kitchen roll etc. Ds2 saw the rat in the cupboard but didn't do anything. It was an escaped tame rat, white and tan so I didn't want to get the traps out. I thought my cat was too old to get it, she is 11 but there was a very dead white and tan rat on the kitchen floor on Monday morning. Dcat was only defective for 6 months.

babyno5 · 30/03/2019 23:46

My cat likes to piss in the floor 2 inches from litter tray sometimes. Normally just after I've washed the floor in utility room
