Help!! Cats want feeding at 5:30am and being quite aggressive

What do I do? They're driving me mad. Problem is I have IBS so sometimes I wake up around 5:15 desperately needing the toilet so I get up but then go back to bed as I don't need to start getting ready for bed until 7am. But then because they know I'm awake they start going mad. We've tried locking them out of our bedroom but then they just scratch the door and meow really loudly.

The other thing is when I do get up to feed them (whether that's at 5:30 or later), one of them rather painfully jumps on my leg and clings on. He does this at other times of the day too and it bloody hurts. How do I get him to stop this?

My 2 cats have their "own room" where their water, litter, food and beds are and the door get closed with them inside when we go to bed, until we get up.

Ours are fed between 6am and 8am with a tin of applaws tuna between them, and a scoop of biscuits. They then get 2 scoops of biscuits between 4pm and 6pm. And that is all they have.

This has always been their routine so they know no different (although it doesn't stop 1 of them meowing for her tea from 2pm if I am in the house!)

We've bought a timed feeder - yay! Just need to wait for it to arrive.

Re wet food we've tried Felix and the Felix as good as it looks, both caused issues. We've also tried the Ava wet food too but again that causes an issues. We've tried feeding them more but they still just always want more. Scared of overfeeding them tbh. The pack says 65g per day per cat. How much would you feed them if they're always hungry?

Someone mentioned he'll calm down once neutered - they've already been neutered, it was done before I adopted them.

With wet food we only ever gave our 2 cats half a pouch 2 share as their bed time treat and this was as 2 year olds.

Felix has very little meat content but lots of carbs & sugar which cats don't need. They are meat eaters ,that could be why they had dodgy tummies.

There aren't many good quality ,high meat content foods in the shops ,but Lily's kitchen is one .
Zoo plus is great for both ,there's always a deal to be had ,they do a good selection of 70% meat dry food & quite a few wet .
You can get a pack of 32 animonda trays for £15 I think & they do trial packs for most of the decent high meat content brands
I tend to do a bulk order once a month so I qualify for free DPD delivery .

Still waiting for the pic!!! Grin

My ten month old kitten has access to dry food at night. She still wakes up at 5am and cries for attention! I have a timed cat flap that lets her out at 5am. It records when she trie stop get out, she starts at around a quarter five!! She then goes outside for about half an hour and come back in a crowd for attention!!

She gets her wet food at 6am but after snacking on dry all nit she isn’t a starving. I think she just misses me when I am asleep!!

I know Felix is rubbish for meat content. As far as I'm aware, Ava is pretty good as it's grain free but still gave them an upset tummy so we'd rather keep them on mostly dry food. They occasionally get a wet pouch of Ava to share which doesn't affect them too badly but any more and they get the runs.

I think she just misses me when I am asleep!!

I think this could be part of it.

On wet food, I bulk buy Lily’s kitchen wet and thrive wet. She only has two servings a day - it’s very high meat content and she is rarely hungry (Technically she is still a kitten so I don’t limit her food).

Just in the last few weeks our cat has started appearing at about 5am in our bed. It must be because it’s getting lighter, because usually she gets up when I do at 6.30, and at weekends often won’t come through until much later. She has dry food out, but gets wet in the morning, and again about 7pm. Usually she will actually settle down between us, but it is very disconcerting waking up with her nose in my mouth, plus she is bloody heavy when she springs up from the ground unexpectedly!

Can they tolerate chicken or fish.
