Cattery for clingy cat?

We have to go away for three nights in April, and need to decide what to do with our cat. He'll be 9 months old and although he's very confident and playful he's definitely a velcro cat. If we're in the house he gets very distressed if he's not in the same room as us.
(Strangely, I think he's ok while we're at work - he definitely curls up and goes to sleep.)

Do you think he could go to a cattery, or would so much time alone stress him out? The cattery can't have someone sitting in his cage the whole time! He loves other cats, and would be much happier hanging out with one, but a cattery can't really provide that, I'm assuming. Any ideas for what we should ask when we go to visit the catteries? Or solutions we've missed?!

Mines a stage 5 clinger too and is fine in Catteries.

I have a clingy cat too but paid for a cat sitter to come in twice a day. She fed her and stayed and cuddled her and played with her for about half an hour. She was absolutely fine although sitter said that she jumped on her as soon as she got in the door and pinned her to the sofa for cuddles!

Our velcro cat has such a good time at the cattery he doesn't want to come home. He hides from DH who he adores Grin

Ours lets the sociable ones out for playtime. They love it. Our old grumpy one sits in her cage with the door open swiping at them as they come past Grin

For 3 days, kept indoors with a cat sitter would be fine: couple of visits each day, play and fussing. He’ll be much happier in his own home.

Book a cat sitter. Cats are much happier at home. If a cat sitter says once a day is enough, don’t pick them. I always insisted on two visits, as you might not always find the cat on every visit, better chance with two visits, plus a cat can get very very ill in 24 hrs so you want to make sure it’s chdcked on regularly.

I would go for a cat sitter. We have done it with our boy for about 7 years during holidays and he’s fine.

Ours (also clingy!) actually prefers cattery as he gets to miaow at the other cats in next door pens and see humans on their rounds. He hates only getting 20 mins fuss a day with a sitter. Cats are weird though Grin

I originally had cat sitters for my very clingy/timid and swore they'd never go into a cattery again as they spent their first 5 years in a kitten farm in a pen. Because of health issues I had to put them in a cattery. I found a brilliant one and they love it there. The staff adore them.

I'm far more relaxed when they are in the cattery!
