HELP! My cat is peeing by the front door

Hi. I’ve been driving myself crazy. My 3 year old male cat who is neutred has been peeing by the front door. He did it in my old house and we were at our wits end and decided to put a litter tray there after trying everything else to save the wood.

I’ve now moved and am renting and my landlord has been kind enough to let me bring my cat. But he’s started peeing by the front door in my new place too! He has a litter tray which I keep in a quiet private place and keep clean. He uses it regularly but still pees by the door. I’ve tried letting him out all day (he used to be a house cat but now we have a flap for him) I’ve tried feeding him there I’ve tried lemon peel, spices, all the repellents on the market, feliways, I’ve tried telling him off I’ve tried not telling him off! He is such a relaxed cat and so affectionate. He gets lots of cuddles and is always relaxed around my flat mate and just generally seems happy.

He has had a urine infection in the past and when he first started peeing in the new house I got him treated just to be sure he wasn’t unwell. But it’s just too consistent for a uti.

I really don’t know what to do. I have a house mate now who luckily hasn’t noticed yet or has been too polite to say anything. I’m at my wits end and love my cat so much. But if my landlord finds out and I have to get rid of the cat I’ll have no choice.

Please please please help me. I feel like I’ve tried everything and just don’t know where to turn.

Cystease capsules might help & an extra litter tray. Are you using the scent neutralising sprays to clean up when he’s done it?.

Try ultra clumping litter too, most cats really like a fine grain litter.

Could there be another cat in the neighborhood that is unspayed and marking his territory by peeing on your door? Your cat may then pee at the door in order to show that it is "his door".

My parents who don't have a cat have had a cat peeing on their door simply to mark his territory.

Maybe trying cleaning the area with an enzyme cleaner to remove any smell of cat pee helps.
