Do your cats have their own bedroom?

Just wondering if everyone else's cats have a spare bedroom?

No they just sleep wherever they want tbh.

CrookshanksPotter · 16/02/2019 23:04

@dementedpixie they tend to sleep on us when we're awake and it but currently at night they sleep in their own room. They've only been with us a short while though and we were advised when we got them to put them in a spare room for the first day or two and then slowly give them free run of the house. They may still be finding their feet at the minute

I'd love it if they could sleep in with us but they're currently so boisterous and awake when we go to sleep that they're not allowed in our room at night as it currently stands.

No, he shares with DP and me. We live in a 2 bed flat (2 adults, 1 child and 1 cat).
When I'm rich with a reasonably sized house I may allow him his own room and I'll share with the cat Wink

No she just sleeps where she wants. I have converted the under the stairs cupboard into her litter tray room but she doesn’t sleep in there. It stores all her bits too though.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 16/02/2019 23:25

Mine have 2 rooms. One for their litter tray and another for their food and water, they have a sofa in one room and a double bed in another. If we have kids the man they may loose one of them.

Jaxhog · 16/02/2019 23:30

Yes. It's called the whole house! Not a separate room though, no.

RandomMess · 16/02/2019 23:32

Ours are shut in the kitchen/diner/family room otherwise no sleep is to be had!

PodgeBod · 16/02/2019 23:34

My kids don't have their own bedrooms, let alone the cat! He likes to have somebody to snuggle up with.

Woke up this morning feeling a bit restricted....
DW is still under the covers in the attached photo.
Does this answer your question OP?

Do your cats have their own bedroom?
Hassled · 17/02/2019 08:09

Ours are shut in the kitchen overnight - they have beds there and access to the cat flap. There's no way any of us would sleep if they could roam the house.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 17/02/2019 08:15

no, they roam, but mostly do so quietly so i'm not too bothered. when i turned in, dcat1 was on the rocking chair, dc2 on a suitcase, both in my bedroom. This morning DCat1 was actually in the cat bed for once Shock and DCat2 had taken over in the rocking chair.

GrumpyOldMare · 17/02/2019 08:20

My son and I live in a two bedroom house,so no,mine don't. Much as I'm fond of them, they wouldn't have one even if we lived in a 3 bed house. I'm one of those ''mean'' owners that doesn't let the cats on the beds.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/02/2019 10:49

No, the whole house is theirs. I was looking at a 3 bed recently and thought. Oo thr cats could have a room each!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 17/02/2019 13:44

We share Harry's bedroom with him. Well that's what it feels like!

CrookshanksPotter · 17/02/2019 19:36

otherwise no sleep is to be had!

Know that feeling! We lasted all of about 30 mins before throwing them out of the bedroom on the one occasion we let them in.

How do you get them to disassociate the idea of their bedroom or is that something that comes naturally as they learn they can roam the house? A lot of the time if they're looking for somewhere quiet they'll currently go to their bedroom instead of say our bedroom.

Ours generally sleeps in the living room, then pops up in our bed about 6am. Last night DP slept in the spare room after he kept me awake snoring the night before, and she was in with him from about 2am, then with me from 6. She knows I get up earlier and feed her, also she likes to lie exactly on my bladder, for the lols.

PalmTree101 · 19/02/2019 15:03

The cat could have the spare room as his but he seems to prefer to mainly sleep downstairs after a quick cuddle when I go to bed

EstrellaDamn · 19/02/2019 15:04

It took our cat months to sleep with us.

He went from:

Downstairs
The bottom of the stairs
The stairs
The top of the stairs
The hall
The bed

estrella the first night (a Wednesday) we had our girl she slept behind the living room curtains. By the weekend she was launching herself on our bed and burrowing in between us. We actually tried shutting her in the kitchen after a few nights of that caper, but she wailed the house down.
