Cat in season, help

So the moocat is in season and my word she is making the loudest noise I have ever heard from a cat, she is seriously pushing her luck doing stuff she has never done before like looking at herself in the mirror, up on the dressing table trying to get in the high cupboards and as I'm in her bedroom it's really getting to me roll on her vets appointment at the end of next month

Cats come into season with the brighter days and will continuously cycle until they are mated. Vets will neuter/spay regardless of whether they are in season, or even pregnant ( if the owner wishes).

They can have up to 2- 3 litters each between now and next October. Don't do it to yourself and your kitty cats. Oh and by the way lol, don't they make a horrendous noise. I have 7 all spayed/neutered thankfully but the yowling is awful to listen to, the poor creatures.

Ah, so queen you would expect another season whilst still feeding 4 week old kits?

Yes, indeed, does sound tortuous! Sadly, when the procedure was done, all 4 week old kits were removed Sad and she was returned. I thought she didn't seem well at all, called and asked them why she seemed so 'not ok'? Was told she would still be groggy. I phoned twice more through the evening, spoke to emergency vet ooh, same. Eventually I called at like one/two a.m. was told you can wait til morning I said no, I think she's unwell and I want her looked at again (I've just been on a docs thread and they'd be horrified at my impertinence in questioning professional opinion!), I took her in and left her there. Waited up for a call really fearing the worse despite all the brush offs. Eventually called at about half 6 a.m. she would would have died if they had opened her again in the night as shed been haemorhaging! She was very poorly and had lost a lot of blood from the stalk not being properly cauterised. She had such a lovely litter of beautiful kitties and she was a very happy and awesome continually purring DM to them!

Dont do it to yourself and your kitty cats ? What? Don't do what, I mean?

Cats are seasonally polyoestrus meaning that increasing day length triggers them to start cycling. They are also induced ovulators so they only ovulate if they have intercourse. Without intercourse cats can remain in a persistent season. If they do ovulate their cycle is around three weeks.
It is not uncommon for cats to come back into season within 7 days of giving birth leading to this persistent cycle of one pregnancy to another.
Have seen as TCN will have seen these older female cats who have been allowed to be kitten making machines they are just exhausted.

Every surgical procedure carries a risk of haemorrhage though fortunately it is very low in cats ( lower than dogs), but multiple pregnancies to increase the size of the blood vessels and therefore the risk of bleeding.

That's the best explanation I've heard in many years of cat-keeping Lone thanks. It was her first litter, but sadly as you see she was on her way to a 2nd.

If I'd had that explanation this would never have happened to our poor girl, i was very poorly advised.

She was obviously in that persistent cycle .

Lonecatwithkitten · 01/02/2019 06:49

No persistent cycle, just persistent season if not mated.
She just started cycling as soon as she had given birth which large number of cats do. Our standard advice as a practice is to keep them in to prevent further pregnancy.

Yes, I get it (now!) I was misinformed which led to nearly losing her!
So, without a mating it just goes on and on until [successful] mating achieved.
Its so shit that i asked this of vets and noone said. Grrr!
