After my many visits to the vets with Snow in the past couple of weeks, I've just had to rush my big Savannah girl in for surgery Sad. DH accidentally shut her tail in the door and took the tip off, she's now having more of it amputated. I'm absolutely heartbroken, I know it was an accident and DH is beside himself, but my poor poor baby. Please tell me a partial tail amputation is going to be ok?

Partial and even full tail is usually fine! My boy has a bent and short tail :)
Doesn't stop him pretending it's long and fluffy and causes no problems at all. Guess she'll be wearing the cone of shame though....

You poor thing. She'll be fine!

She’ll recover. They do have a habit of getting in the way.

And please don't you or your DH feel guilty - it was an accident and you have enough to deal with without feeling bad. My (other non-bent tailed) cat managed to forget he had a tail and singed it on the woodburner. Idiot!

Trying to go to bed. Apart from the dreaded cone of shame, does anyone have any ideas how I can stop her getting at her stitches? Do you think it would be a bad idea if I covered it with gauze, just overnight?

Her stitches are all gone, but her tail looks a bit scabby. Is this normal or should I be taking her back to the vets?

As long as the scabs are dry then it's fine. If they get wet then likely infected
