Cat keeps missing litter tray

Hi I've got 2 cats (sisters) and one of them keeps missing the litter tray when she does a poo.

Out of the 2 of them we've always had a couple of minor problems with her toileting e.g when we first got them she would ignore her litter tray for wees and wee by the back door. Couple of days after having her and she hasn't done it again.

Any advise on what to do? If I catch her I push her forward a bit. I clean the trays and fish for cat turds regularly. I've got 3 trays 2 are deep but she misses in them too. It's almost a daily occurrence now and it's starting to get me down.

Maybe try a high sided one. I have one from petplanet

Hooded litter tray did the trick! The cats didn’t like the flap things so I took them off but much better than open trays.

New kitties quite happy with hooded trays too

I feel your pain. My 16 year old cat has done this for years and enjoys crapping behind the sofa.
Just when I think she is doing ok and has stopped this she'll do it again, she has big paws and traps litter between her toes which she then walks all over the house.
It's a major clean up job when I get home.
The hooded deep litter trays certainly do help but even they do not stop the litter spreading.
It drives me nuts, but I love her so.......

I like the idea of a hooded one.
I was thinking along the lines of emptying ds2 toy box and using that coz at least she would have to get IN it.

The hooded ones are good. I had one for ages, but had to get rid of it as Dcat was too tall for it and used to poke his head out of the flap, he looked so uncomfortable in it, I had to take the lid off.

As our cat has got older and more arthritic we get this more and more as she can't squat so far down and wee goes over the edge. Now we put puppy pads under the litter tray and it's brilliant - no more smell or damaged floor, just throw away the puppy pad at the end of the day.

A big litter trapping mat in front of the trays helps with litter as well, doesn’t catch all of it but most of it. I’ve seen litter trays that open from the top so they have to jump in. Wouldn’t suggest that for an oldie though.

But at least she covers it when she misses.
