Hi
I have a seventeen year old cat who has dementia. Physically she is very well (had blood tests done) but night times are a trial. She wants constant feeding but only a little amount. She loudly demands food every two hours through the night which is proving exhausting ! We put food down for her but cant put down too much or she sicks it back up Confused can you wish people help with advice on how to deal with this poor old lady (and her exhausted human) thank you

Get an automatic feeder and time it to open every couple of hours.

Toddler's suggestion is a good one, but I bet she will want human contact as much as the food.

My friend's old lady did the same at night times, and they managed with ear plugs and keeping the bedroom door closed, but it was a trial.

Feliway diffuser might relax her a little?

Poor old lady - I hope she is able to find some peace at night. It's hard being mum to older cats - best wishes to her and to you!

Is your cat happy?

I know it is physically well but if it is very miserable PTS should be an option.

Old lady here probably has early dementia. She knows what she wants and comes and tells us. Every hour or so. There is food in the bowl all the time if she when by herself. But each time she comes to get us and we have to walk with her to the bowl. Sometimes she seems to forget she wanted it halfway through the journey.

If it was all night and she was being sick, even though she is the love of my life sorry DH I'd have to consider what the quality of her life was, as she does spend a lot of time being really bewildered.

Thank you everybody for your replies

In herself she seems happy enough but she does crave my company (strange animal 🙄) during the night. She used to sleep on my daughter's bed during the night but has stopped this over the last few months.

I did have a feliway diffuser but i will get a refil this weekend and get some earplugs

Bless her...she cant help it....i just wish she would let me have more than 2 hours at one go !!

Thank you again
