Can anyone ID this food please?

I have a very small amount of dry food which I stored in a jar to keep it fresh. Someone had thrown away the part of the packaging that had the name on.

It is either something from the vet, or something given to me by a lady who runs a sanctuary, in which case it would have been Autarky, which doesn't appear to exist any more.

On the basis it is something from the vet I am assuming Royal Canin or Hills, but I have searched images and cannot find anything that looks like it. Asking the vet is not an option for reasons I prefer not to think about, bad, very bad experience and they never kept proper records anyway.

Description: It is all the same colour and all triangle shaped.
It is for fussy cats/poor appetite. It is also the only one that has ever worked to get a cat eating and I am desperate to find it again. I have RC exigent, have tried various ones, it is not that, although may have been reformulated.

Can you post a pic?

Toddlerteaplease · 03/01/2019 15:15

Exigent aromatic. I think that is triangle shaped. Will have a look at mine later.

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 03/01/2019 15:50

Thank you, have had all the exigent ones in the past but not for about a year, please look anyway.

Have just realised it might be a vet one but no idea what, it came in a clear bag, obviously from a large bag.

Pic attached. It looks a bit more nobbly than the usual ones and it smells quite pleasant for pet food.

Royal Canin sensitive stomach is triangle but not as sharply shaped as that - roundier edges.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/01/2019 18:28

Could it be James Well beloved. I seem to remember it looked Similar.

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 03/01/2019 18:45

I hadn't thought of JW, used to buy it before but I think the triangles were smaller, however I might give it another try, thank you.

Toddlertea - isn't it the fish one that is triangles? These triangles don't smell like the JW if so, I will always remember that pong.

Looks as if I will be back to buying lots of different foods, not long since I had donated them all to the rescue after my little one passed away, and now have a cat that is off his food for the first time since I met him.

Iams is triangle shaped, although the edges are a bit rougher.

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 04/01/2019 01:17

Thank you kitkat, will take a look.

Ended up with something else due to having to ask someone to pick up on the way home tonight. Dreamies work well and a little bit of wet food has been eaten, but nowhere near the usual amount.

Do you know which Iams it is please?

We have used Iams and it has always been a mixture of shapes in the same bag.

This is my royal canin indoor cat...hard to get a photo as my cat came running and ate it up first attempt 😂

Can anyone ID this food please?
Allergictoironing · 04/01/2019 12:11

The Royal Canin anti-hairball looks the same as the indoor cat variety (mine get a mix of both)

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 04/01/2019 21:52

JW fish is heart shaped, the duck flavour is the triangles.

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 04/01/2019 23:53

Am thinking it may have been IAMS as I did buy some once, but I can't find triangles in any photos of it.

Used to always buy the JW turkey and sometimes the fish, rarely the duck as it wasn't popular so it wouldn't be that. I think the kibble size was smaller than the stuff I have too.

Have been looking at photos of Hills just in case it was one of theirs but no joy so far.

Thank you all for your input (please don't give up!).

Tbh it looks like Purina Chicken.

QuestionableMouse · 05/01/2019 21:11

My fussy cat hated the royal canin fussy cat but eats Purina kitten in the purple shiny bag. She'll also accept the hairball formula (and lives on a mix of both.)

Iirc there are a few types of fussy cat food from RC.

KittyMcKitty · 05/01/2019 21:14

My cat (now 7) will only eat Purina - turns her nose up at anything else! I’ve spoken to my vet about it and they say that Purina is a good food. I tried in her youth all sorts of fancy (mega expensive) foods and she wouldn’t touch them.

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 05/01/2019 21:17

Is it Arden Grange? I used to buy it from amazon for my picky cat and it looks similar.

KittyMcKitty · 05/01/2019 21:18

This is Purina One Chicken

Perfect Fit (which I get from Tesco) is triangular & all the same colour.

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 06/01/2019 01:17

Thank you all for your help here.

I am going to end up with a stock of various kibble, already have RC exigent, have had them all but narrowed it down to the sitting upright brown cat picture one as the others didn't go down well, Meowing Heads, tried but not keen, and have today added a bag of IAMS which were acceptable as a snack apparently, although not triangles.

It wouldn't have been Perfect Fit. And not Lily's Kitchen, not popular for some reason.

Possibly Purina chicken as I used to buy that but I think the one I have has a rougher texture. Might get that next as it was fine with my other cats.

Also used to buy Arden Grange but many years ago so not that one, might have another try though.

The rescue is going to do well out of this.
