Why does my very old cat insist on coming in from outdoors and very over excitedly seeks me out and tells me about her outdoor adventure.
Anyone would think she had just come back from safari or something.
She will miaow in my face until she thinks I've appreciated her adventure enough and told her how clever she is then off she goes for a nap.
Occasionally i must appreciate a leaf or other item she has brought in and promise to keep it for ever and ever but no more slow worms please Smile

That is second in annoying feature of crying to search for the humans after they have gone upstairs to bed, surprise surprise the humans are in their beds ( with the doors open) as they are every single night.

cheesywotnots · 30/12/2018 14:24

I loved it when my cat used to tell me all her stories, then we'd go out for a walk around the garden so she could show me everything that had happened whilst I'd been at work.

Theunsungsong · 30/12/2018 14:30

If we have a yard invasion (ginger cat from down the road) our cat will retreat into the house to shout insults and threats through the safety of the microchip-operated catflap.

When the enemy is defeated he will come to report on his bravery.

WhatTheFuckRichard · 30/12/2018 14:30

One of mine (the nice one) regularly tell tales on his brothers for fighting Grin I will hear banging and meowing and then the lovely one waltz up to me and meow as if to say 'muuuuum, they're at it again'

Toddlerteaplease · 30/12/2018 14:30

I was having a proper conversation with cheddar while she was invading my personal space in the bathroom this morning. I love vocal cats!

Ollivander84 · 30/12/2018 15:03

Mine sits on the windowsill doing neighbourhood watch, with his paw holding the blind back
"Mama? Paws is DRUNK on catnip"
"Mama? Waif is in MY garden"
ConfusedHmmGrin

Oh ours do that. It's a "Hoo man I have SURVUVED my trip into the treacherous garden area - you may stand down." You are required to comment on this in some way, or the mewing will continue. I have taken to getting Alexa to meow (say Alexa- meiow and it will mew 4-5 times) which they appreciate more than me.

goforkyourself · 30/12/2018 20:27

My recently departed tabby girl used to sit on the bath mat every single night while I had my shower and yowl. As I dried myself she'd complain bitterly about how I'd ruined her life (by bringing kittens into the house) and that I didn't love her. I had to sit on the floor for ten minutes and reassure her that she was my no.1 cat Confused She'd purr contentedly for a few minutes then bite my leg before running off in disgust, usually with a 'fuck you' parting shot hiss GrinGrin

Plump82 · 30/12/2018 20:44

Mine likes to trot in to whatever room im in to tell me shes filled her litter tray!

WarCat · 30/12/2018 20:46

My older boy is like this! Miaows the house down when he comes in every bloody half an hour. And has to seek me out and shout at me until I have heard the whole tale. I whinge but I'll miss it when it stops Smile

Papergirl1968 · 30/12/2018 21:01

Oh god, yes, Lonecat, we get the occasional howl on the landing at night as if to say, "ma family? Where you all gone?"
In our beds, you stupid cat, where we are every single night. Grrr!

MrsMoastyToasty · 30/12/2018 21:02

Mine talks with his mouth full ...of mouse.

drspouse · 30/12/2018 21:12

Our new cat is starting to explore the house and keeps telling us what she's found. Or that it's a mess. Probably the latter.

minkies11 · 30/12/2018 21:13

One of mine went missing for 2 day and I happened to catch a glimpse of him coming home across the field - rushed out to the back fence and he was absolutely yelling at me. Even touching noses (which he loves to do ) he continued to yell right in my face. Even when eating! And pooing. And sometimes in his sleep. Honestly - he never shuts up Grin and damn it, I talk right back.

drspouse · 30/12/2018 22:05

I think now she's telling us DS isn't asleep. Sadly the meowing isn't helping the situation.

buckingfrolicks · 31/12/2018 22:30

I fostered a very very timid cat who was silent as the grave for 10 days. Then he decided he loves me and proceeded to narrate three years' worth of trauma and upset over the next week. Reader, I adopted him.

He's settled at chirruping and purring now as clearly all is right with his world, but I'll never forget just how weird it was that he just had to get all that off his chest.

elfyears · 31/12/2018 22:38

One of my little loves announces whenever she is about to use the litter tray, and again when she has finished.

We call it her shit song.

Ollivander84 · 31/12/2018 22:55

@buckingfrolicks Grin that's adorable
I adopted mine and he started shouting the minute he was out the carrier Hmm

cricketmum84 · 31/12/2018 22:58

Haha mine does this too. Her favourite time to tell me about her day is when I'm on the loo. She sits on my feet and yowls excitedly about the birds she had chased and the other bad cats she had kept away from the garden.

Then she sits on my shoulder and licks my hair and my cheek until DH exclaims that it's all getting a bit weird for him.

Frlrlrubert · 31/12/2018 23:04

3/4 cats I've lived with have had to announce their arrival. One had the best miaow ever, like a little telephone ring 'prrrrriaow'.

With my brothers cat (he spent a year abroad and cat lived with me) it was very useful as you could tell if she had her mouth full and intercept before she released her (live) gift.

cricketmum84 · 31/12/2018 23:11

Aw @Frlrlrubert my little Ivy does the cute telephone ring miaow whenever she jumps on my knee. Like announcing her arrival. We call it her purdle-miaow

TheLongRider · 01/01/2019 01:49

One of mine makes a delightful "nyak-nyak" greeting when he trots into the house. He has to tell you all the neighbourhood gossip.

Another cat has a triumphant hail-the-conquering-hero meow when he's caught something, upon hearing this noise we lock all entrances, after the never to be repeated incident of the rat in the night time.

Papergirl1968 · 01/01/2019 12:34

We get the mrrrr when he comes in, which I assume is hello.
The me-ow means he is hungry.
The deep howl means where are you? Usually at night when he has apparently forgotten we are all in bed...
The mrrr mrrr mrrr in quick succession is when he is having his bum patted, and at this point he usually gets called a pervert Grin
