Struggling to treat fleas.

My cat came to me from a rescue with fleas. I have used frontline plus monthly. I've flea combed, but she still has live fleas on her. I have treated the house with frontline homeguard. Pulled every bit of furniture out and sprayed every nook and cranny, treated every soft furnishing, hot washed all bedding, teddies, cushion covers, throws, mattress toppers etc.
Bathed the cat tonight as it's the only way I can flea comb as she isn't a people kinda cat.... she was squeaky clean. 8 fleas, 3 of which were dead - all removed. 3 hours later, just looked under her chin - 2 fleas crawling about.

Is it time to call the council in/burn the house down/what?!

My phone autocorrected 'indorex' to 'informed' so I corrected it on the post below but I see someone posted in between, so it wasn't clear. I wish we had an edit button sometimes!

That and a 'like' button would be extremely handy.

We had great success with Comfortis tablets. £13 per tablet from the vets but worth every penny. Once the tablet kicks in, you could see the fleas dropping dead off her. All I did was vacuum daily and any fleas were gone in no time. I didn't bother giving a tablet every month, only if I noticed any signs of fleas.

Ffs. Nearly a year later and we are still having flea problems.
We have 2 cats. One is a kitten. She doesn't go out. Both cats have fleas. The kitten actually arrived to us with fleas back in June.
The house has been treated with Indorex. Both cats are having monthly advocate as prescribed by the vet.
My poor kitten is covered in flea dirt again today. Several live fleas combed out. Several that were too quick to catch too.
The house is treated (and every removable fabric hot washed etc). The cats are treated. It has been a problem for the last year on and off. At times it seems it is under control. I know it can take a while to fix. But this is taking the actual biscuit now.
I don't know where to go with this now.

Diatomaceous earth really works. Messy but worth it if chemical based treatments aren't working.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 19/10/2019 17:38

Why is it messy? Just reading about it but unsure why it would be messy? Thanks!

Perhaps it would be worth speaking to a fumigator about getting the house done professionally if you haven’t already .

Weedsnseeds1 · 24/10/2019 19:01

It's messy because it's a powder, which you sprinkle about, then have to brush or vacuum up. So it takes a bit of removing!

You need a vet prescribed flea spray and flea treatment Bravecto. This is the only way to treat it, fleas are resistant to off the shelf products. Much more expensive but the only way to get rid.
