Cattery - vaccinations and boosters?

Evening - we need to use a cattery for one night soon as we are travelling a long way with our cat and no hotels will take a cat (believe me we tried). We only had our cat have all the initial kitten vaccinations as he is a house cat and we take him to vet regularly for a heart problem, and anyway we know it was silly of us not to get any boosters. We will get the boosters next time he is at the vet for his heart- but this is after we are travelling unexpectedly.

He’s three now, and has never been amongst other cats, but wondered if boosters are typically required alongside the initial vaccinations by most catteries? We know they ask for a vaccine certificate you see. Thanks for any advice!

I would think any decent cattery would insist they'd had a booster in the last year.

I think you’re right. I might have to suggest we sleep in the car with him Confused Not fair on him or the other cats.

If it was one night I would be inclined to sleep in the car with the cat. But then I do crazy shit for my animals (think house chicken Grin)

You can't have a booster if it's been three years; the vaccination course needs to be restarted. That means one vaccination now and another in 3-4 weeks time. Some catteries will expect him to have had the full set to be considered up to date on vaccinations.

My cattery always wants to the the certificates and has a photo of them in the girls file. Why not just leave hi at home and get a cat sitter.

Yes, the cattery will expect vaccinations to be up to date, and as a previous poster said, that means one vaccination now, and another in 3 weeks time. Basically the same as the kitten vaccinations. It might be worth asking if the cattery has a quarantine area as it’s just for one night. I worked at a kennels a long time ago which had a separate area where they put any animals who became ill during their stay.
