Walking cat on a lead

Does anyone have any experience of this?

I got a kitten in July and she's an indoor cat as I live next to a main road. I play with her loads and she has plenty of toys she can play with by herself but I just worry that she's bored because she has sooo much energy. She has free run of the house.

I've been doing some reading about it and the advice seems to be mixed. Some stuff says it's great as it lets the cat get outside and exercise without the dangers of getting run over etc then other places say it can stress them out and not worth it as they only really want to go out by themselves. One article I read also said that some cats are desperate to get out once they've been on the lead and see what's out there and will just constantly cry because they want to get out and explore.

So I'm not sure what to do for the best. Any advice/personal experience would be so appreciated!

I walk one of mine on a harness and extender lead. I have the Mynwood cat harness and its been good really. He had previously been a house cat only for 5 years before I got him from a rescue. Once they have been out though they want to go out all the time!. I go out about 5x per day with mine.

I've got window locks on now because he started jumping out of the windows all the time!. He has jumped out a few times but come s back eventually. My personal view is all animals need a breath of fresh air and the feel the sun on their fur.

I tried it as I too live on main road with huge garden, I brought a Mynwood jacket which are supposably escape proof, they aren't, he slipped out of it in seconds and then proceeded to throw himself at the windows trying to get back indoors, thankfully we managed to herd him back in the door and built a cat run for them instead, but they only tend to go out in it in the spring and summer, but seem entirely content being indoor cats.

I tried a harness lead on my kitten. She was outraged! After two attempts I gave up. She is allowed supervised access to the back garden - which she currently cant escape from.

We use it on lazy cat to increase her exercise. She can go out but often doesn't. We take her She takes us for walks in the woods. It is different to a dog as she will only go where she wants to but she is light so can be easily picked up. The first few times were difficult and she walked backwards to get out but now she runs with her harness on to the car and to her favourite spots. She doesn't like dogs so we avoid dog heavy areas.

I tried one on my old cat to try and keep him out of trouble. He looked like a protester at a rally resisting arrest by the police. He wasn’t a fan

I inherited a couple of mynwood jackets. Tried them on my two and Snirg was having none of it. She managed to get out of the jacket and leave it in next doors garden!

I don't think I would survive if I tried to do this to my tough old boy cat!! Also, cats just jump the back fence anyway don't they?!
