I need advice on what to do about my cats my oldest male and female cats have started fighting they scream at each and chase each other round the female will hunt my male cat out just to start an unprovoked fight with him my male cat is now frightened of the female cat and he will run off and hide to get away from her she delibratly gets in to his face just to wind him up she puffs herself up and has scrached his nose. I'm getting feliways to see if they will help to calm things down. I have the female cat seperated from the rest in the bedroom but she can't spend the rest of her life locked away in the bedroom is there anything else that I can try with them. I have thought about rehoming the female cat but that is a last resort and something I will only do when I have exhausted every option. All my cats have been neutered and the oldest are both 2 years old. All advice greatfuly recieved.

Pet remedy or deli way friends diffuser.

Do they have access to outside?

Shootfirstaskquestionslater · 12/12/2018 14:55

@Toddlerteaplease thank you I will give that a try.

@snowwontbelong no they don’t they are indoor cats only.

Hi,
I’ve had better results with the general Feliway rather than the Family Feliway.
There are some calming drops for sale in Pets at Home which you put between their ears. You could try this on the female cat - the one that is doing the chasing.
Make sure they are not competing for food, beds and toys. Always good to have lots of everything around. Could you consider getting a large indoor scratching tree? Male cat can climb on top of it and feel safe.
Is there any chance they could have controlled outdoor access? My female has a short fuse in general but does get worse if it’s been raining or too cold to go out... if no outdoor access possible, make sure window ledges are free from ornaments so they can go on it and look out of the window. Interactive toys such as the Kong, food puzzles, racing track can help keep them busy.
Also there’s some Beaphar calming treats which are helpful too.

Seems like they don't agree with your decision imo.

How many cats do you have in total and what's the space like? Have there been any changes at home in general, i.e. the arrival of new kittens or new family members? Do they have separate resources (litter boxes, feeding areas etc.) and high places to get away from each other?
