What’s it like being owned by a Siamese?

I’ve seen a very handsome boy for rehoming and am very intrigued. I’ve never had a Siamese but have read they take a lot of work. What should I expect?

I had one as a child. They are very vocal.

I have an Oriental, very similar to Siamese. Will either be the best or worst cat you ever have. I love mine to bits, he is noisy, demanding, incredibly curious, quite fearless, bossy, affectionate, did I say demanding? Endlessly entertaining but quite needy. They don't like to be alone, bond quite strongly with their human and need lots of stimulation (or can be quite destructive,)

Mine isn't a house cat, but hates going out in poor weather. I found a small poo on the doormat earlier today...

Exhausting, but awesome too Grin
My Siamese is loud, needy, jealous and naughty! It’s like having a toddler who can climb door frames and reach the kitchen counters.
But, he’s so loving and affectionate! He’s super smart and so funny to have around the house.

He drives me to distraction sometimes, but I would never be without him!

So like a toddler, mine sits in front of me and lifts up his paws to be picked when he is sleepy and wants a cuddle.

My Siamese is beautiful, intelligent and VERY clingy. She needs to be as near to your face as possible at all times, so likes to drape herself around my / visiting friend / washing machine repair men's neck like a scarf. If you stop stroking her she will put her claws out, JUST enough so you can feel them, and gently smack you in the face to remind you she's there. I love her and wouldn't be without her

Siamese cats are the best.
I had siamese throughout my childhood and they are the most amazing companions.
I now have a Moggie, who is lovely, but boring in comparison to the siameses I have known.

Ours is still a kitten. Utterly mad. Sees cat ghosts everywhere and launches herself at your face (think the face-hugger from Alien). Other than that, an ideal companion.

Echo everything already said, drives me insane sometimes but love him to bits , he is my daughters best friend and I can’t imagine being without him ( and we have other pets ).
He is full on, in your face, nosy , demanding ( I often have to open several sachets of food to find the one he fancies at that point). He has smashed more China than I care to think as if you don’t leap up and feed him on command he starts knocking things off shelves, draining board etc.he is an active outdoor hunter who brings in mice, drops them in his food bowl and eats them ! On rainy days he prowls the house, looking out of every window, yowling at the fact that the weather is bad at all of them.
You just have to want a cat that’s more like a dog rather than an independent low maintain type

They are an amazing breed, full of fun, loyalty and affection. Not for anyone who wants the quiet life.

I have a nearly 6 month old Siamese - love him to bits and would find it hard not to have one in my life now. He is more like a dog - follows me round and lies at my feet. Tells me when he has used his litter box so I can clean it immediately. He seems to see himself as a guard cat - so although he is definitely more my cat than the kids (I have Burmese as well who is amazing with the kids and seems to see himself as a living cuddly toy) he does sit watch over them, supervises bathtime, checks everyone has gone to bed and doesn’t leave their side when ill. He also keeps his claws in when with them. He also looks after the little Burmese and helps him when he gets stuck somewhere.

He is a terrible food thief despite having a sensitive stomach and if he knows roast chicken is in the fridge there is no way he is eating cat food!! Lots of energy - and has loved having another cat around.

He’s a lovely clever and gentle boy. I suspect once you’ve had a Siamese it’s hard to be without one!

They’re just lovely. I’ve had five over the course of 45 years and have loved them all madly. They have catitude, are naughty but very clever and so affectionate. They tend to be one person cats and form an incredibly strong bond with their chosen one. I have a Ragdoll now, more through circumstance than choice and although she can be sweet I miss my Siamese.
