Cat in garden refusing to leave

What do I do? Nothing? Let her in?

We have checked local Facebook for strays. She is in good condiotion. No collar but won’t leave. She shot into the house when I opened the door and is very friendly.
I have put her outside but she won’t go.
Dcat is staring at her out of the window.

I'm in the camp that says offer this kitty food and water and a warm spot until you find the owner, which clearly you are trying to do. It's winter, it's cold, and you may have a Six Dinner Sid but you also may have a cat who is lost or abandoned and down on her luck. If one of my cats ever managed to get themselves lost and all alone I'd hope a kind soul would try to get my cat back to me and in the meantime would offer her shelter, especially now that winter is here.

I just noticed I assumed you're in a cold climate, OP. Where I am it's quite hot much of the year and that's dangerous for stray cats, too, as it's easy for them to get dehydrated. In any case, you can find good advice here on how to look for a lost cat's owners. Hopefully this story has a happy ending with grateful owners happy to be reunited with their missing cat.

I'd let her in and give her food/water. Box with shredded paper as a make shift litter box. Could be lost or wanting a second home

The little bugger waited until 10 minutes after I had posted and then buggered off after being out there for nearly 2 hours.

I will see if she turns up again tomorrow.

She’s back. She shot into the house when I got home at half 7. Dcat was not pleased and hissed at her so I put her out. She then tried her luck again when dh got in at half 9.
She is currently staring at us through the window.

Aww can you let her in and give her a place to sleep overnight? It’s very cold here. My little kitten is hissing the radiator.

Id she is shooting inside i would say lost not buffet chancer. She feels safe in your space for some reason- can you take her to a vet to check for microchip?

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 03/01/2019 21:59

Dh has put a post on the local Facebook. Letting her on would be tricky as dcat is so unhappy at her even being in the garden.
She’s in good condition and not skinny though.
Don’t want to inadvertently steal someone’s cat.

Just incase anyone was worried. We didn’t let the cat in last night but it disappeared before dh went to bed anyway. We left water and food out with a box and blanket.

Dh has had a reply on Facebook saying that she is actually a he and lives on the next street. So not a stray after all.
Didn’t stop the little monkey from trying to get into the house again tonight.

We had a male cat who used to visit us like this. It clearly thought our house was part of its territory!
