Cat with very sensitive belly- is grain free always best?

Our 14 year old has had belly issues since we adopted her 5 years ago. We eventually found a great food (Canagan) that has been brilliant. No sickness and solid poos! Hurrah!

Recently her poo has been very loose so we tried a new food called Country Hunter. I tried the usual transition but my DP doesn’t bother and just feeds her the normal food. All was well for week or two. Solid poo, no, sickness. Then suddenly as soon as she ate a bit of it she W would vomit it up with a few minutes. So back on canagan since it’s better tan being sick.

I just wonder d if going grain free was a mistake. She was on Whiskas in the rescue Center and they didn’t mention stomach problems and told me she was fine with them. Although they did lie about her age and reason for being given up. We found that out when her brothers adopter got in touch with us (they stopped going outside and the owner didn’t want to get a tray).

Anyone I really suppose I’m asking is cheap grain cat food really that bad?

Also; DP fed her normally as in just gave her sachets without mixing with the old food.

My cat has a really sensitive stomach and eats Purina EN which she does really well on. She did go off it for a good year but ive managed to get her back on it and shes doing really well.

I've tried grain free with Cheddar. He counting was like something from the excorcist. The only thing she really tolerated is RC aromatic Exigent. I tried a new brand called Scrumbles and that didn't stop the vomiting but helped the volume and consistency. (Sorry TMI)

*vomiting. She can't count!

Thanks Plump82. I haven’t tried Purina but have seen it at our local pet shop.

Haha, Toddlerteaplease! If they could count they would rule the world. Her vomiting was like that too. And she looked so sorry for herself after. Poor little bear.

If anyone has any ideas how to make her poo smell less deadly, I'd be glad to hear them!
