I have 2 cats, one is aged 1 and the other is 7 month. Both male. Oldest one has been spaded. Never had any problems with accidents in the house. The litter tray was in the corner of the kitchen but sometimes their wee went onto the wall 🤢 so I scrubbed the walls and moved it across the room so its still "private" but easier to keep clean. I change their litter type often and they are never too fussed they always just go in the tray but I'm thinking of getting an enclosed one, you know the ones that look like a carrier? Mainly so its more contained and the dogs cant get to the litter, and it smells better. How do i go about changing the tray? I'm worried they wont understand to go to the toilet in an enclosed one with being used to a normal one

Good idea, get a covered tray, usually cats like one each, when you put litter into the new tray put a few spoonful of the old litter in as well, that will have the cats scent on it, remove the old trays and wiggle their bottoms in for a bit of encouragement. Are you getting the young cat spayed.

We did as Cheesy says but we kept the flap off until he got used to going in and out.

Thanks Ill do that then and keep the flap off till they get used to it. Yes cat number 1 is spayed and outside most of the time so he doesnt use the tray as much. Cat number 2 is more of a house cat, he doesnt seem bothered about going out but we will probably get him spayed in the new year. He just eats and sleeps 😁

Any enclosed tray suggestions? Im thinking of getting the pets at home one

I did this and just kept the door off. Unfortunately my cats never really figured it out so the door is still off (about 8 years later!) but it's fine other than that!

😂 Bless! Hope mine get the hang of it as they havent got a cat flap

Spaying = neutering female cats
Castration/neutering = neutering male cats

As he is now 7 months, definitely time to get him neutered too and his pee will stop smelling so bad!

In general, it's good to have one litter tray per cat + one extra, so you need at least two trays for two cats. The covered ones are great, I've taken the flap/door bits off too for easier entry for cats and easier cleaning too.

Couldnt think of the correct term viccat :)
